Set against a backdrop of Devon’s rolling hills and rocky coastline, Exeter is the county’s historic showpiece. Roman ruins, medieval buildings, and Georgian façades dot the modern town, contrasting with the quayside pubs and glass-fronted shopping malls.

The Globe is a beautiful 16th Century Coaching Inn set in the heart of Exeter’s Historic Estuary Town of Topsham. Located only 4 miles from Exeter City centre, it attracts both tourists and business travellers. The Inn has recently undergone a major refurbishment to restore and update the historic building whilst retaining its authentic character and personal touch.Topsham has a wonderful community, relaxed and friendly offering a perfect base to explore the area, whether by bike, foot or public transport.
When we arrived at the hotel we were made to feel extremely welcome by the members of staff who were very attentive. Our room had everything we needed and was extremely clean. There were many choices for breakfast, both hot and cold. Hollie on reception gave us lots of information about the local area, so we were able to make the most of our stay. Topsham has many lovely bespoke shops, very nice for browsing. The management staff were very attentive, and Leo gave us lots of ideas for visiting the wider and surrounding area. There was plenty of parking at the nearby car park, and was only £5.20 for the whole day. We had a lovely stay (2 nights) and will definitely be visiting again in the near future.

Our dining room is well appointed and offers a full English or continental breakfast to suit your requirements.
Exactly what you would expect from a nice little hotel: Clean, quiet, and a friendly staff. Only criticism being the temperature in the room (a bit hot) as there is no air conditioning system, only a fan to cool things down. Breakfast is great with an ‘à la carte’ choice of continental or cooked breakfast.

Came in for a quick tea/coffee whilst killing time in the area and the staff were amazing! Catherine made a lovely latte and gave a very catering service. Emmy, Isobel and Chloe were great for conversation and made me feel very welcome amongst the great views from the bar.

The quay provides cycle and boat hire facilities and a range of activities for the more adventurous at the popular Haven Banks outdoor education centre.
Stayed here for 2 nights this weekend (22/10/21 - 24/10/21), contactless check in was super easy, lovely call from Helen a couple of days before to go over checking in procedures. Really easy to find and perfect central location so city centre was within easy walking distance. Room was small but clean, beautifully decorated and very comfortable and cosy. My only con is that the shower cubicle was a little small so was a bit awkward to manoeuvre but was a nice hot shower so it was okay! Parking permits available for £3 per day and with the city centre so close we just parked up for our whole stay so it was perfect! Would definitely stay here again!

The Farmers offer a range of rooms to suit all. Family rooms, twins, doubles. Rooms have been recently refurbished. A warm welcome in a friendly pub environment. Good honest rooms service and values.
First of all, the hotel is well located, the staff were all lovely and the pub offers a wide range of drinks. There is a kettle in the room, with tea and coffee and biscuits. (no water or croissants as suggested by other reviews). However, there were a number of issues 1) The noise! We stayed over Friday and Saturday nights and the noise from outside was constant until the early hours. I barely slept. On Friday night there was a huge argument outside, bottles were thrown and there was mention of a knife. Police turned up with sirens on shortly after...not the hotels fault but if you want any sleep, forget it. 2)personal preference but the beds were really uncomfortable. Quite thin spring mattress, and you could feel the springs. 3) The curtains didn't quite cover the windows, leaving a gap either end. Also contributed to the lack of sleep. If you like a dark room, take a sleep mask 4) Cleanliness. Whilst the room was OK, the shower and bathroom left a lot to be desired. Thick dust on the shower gel dispenser, on the shower frame, in every corner of the floor and behind the door. The tiles had marks and soap scum on them, which were easily removed with a wipe. Grout was turning black. Suggests only very basic/quick cleaning which is concerning given a COVID measure is deep/thorough cleaning. The shower wasn't very powerful and went from hot to cold. As I said, if you're just there to party the lack of sleep probably won't be an issue and the hotel is very close to the train station and various bars. However, I'm now exhausted and have barely slept for 2 days.

The Room was really Large and very Clean Parking was really easy The Manager was really helpful and always available on the phone Due to Covid restrictions they are trying to have as little contact as possible so didn't actually see him Very easy to pick up the keys from the key box Disliked · The bed :( Considering how big the room was the bed was really small and really hard so the sleep was really uncomfortable After two nights of difficult sleep, we requested beddings for the sofa bed so one of us can sleep on it which might give us a better sleep but it wasn't provided I booked the hotel when I read the review that it was the best night's sleep they had had, perhaps they were on their own in the room and liked a firm bed. It wasn't the case for us.

So booked 2 nights and the rooms were clean, thats where the good bits ends.... Upon arrival met by manager who was very rude and obnoxious. Told no breakfast or food as kitchen closed completely and not available till further notice, the bar closed at 8.30 as no staff only him. Going to the room horrible drainage smell and the corridor and stairs were very wobbly and unsafe. Tea and coffee and kettle was avaible in the rooms, but next morning trying to find someone to replenish the tea was hard, phone number at reception desk if no one about. I have stayed in many hotels and this one is the worst for customer service.

Was a comfortable twin room with a lovely shower. Tea and coffee in the room, breakfast at an extra price but cheap, menu looked good but we didn’t try it out The staff were friendly and welcoming Security access was good into the hotel section. Not the most attractive building but a good nights sleep and that’s the most important part for us.
