For a quiet weekend away from the city, this place would have been ideal. It has a great salon, good for reading a book while sipping coffee or wine, Outside, it is also great to lounge, possibly in the late spring or early autumn time. However, we came with our twin toddlers and aside from playing in the hotel room and the small playground, there isn't really anything that they can do. There is a recreation room downstairs, in the restaurant area where there's a pool table and a foosball, but not for small children. If they could dedicate a small area to be a children's playroom, it would be great - though I understand they might not be catering to families with toddlers and preschoolers. Other than that, food was pretty tasty and the mattresses were so comfortable.

Bygone times in a Transylvanian castle! Spacious suites and intimate saloons, thick walls and gracious arches - our guests will enjoy the authentic atmosphere of a renaissance castle, while being pampered in the highest comfort of modern times. We offer boutique accommodation in 8 uniquely designed rooms, traditional Transylvanian cuisine with a gourmet twist, and authentic touring experiences.
The room was very nice decorated, the bed was comfy. The original spa in the cellar and the pool were great, the pool water a little cold. They close the spa area at 9.00 p.m., they could let it open later in the evening. The yard is not very big, they were arrangeing it at the time we were there. They can make a play yard, with outside games for children and also for adults. The restaurant was very nice, the food very good and the staff very polite.

Take part in our Transylvanian Countryside Lifestyle. Zabola is a unique estate, not just in Transylvania. It is a very much lived in family home, a property where guests are invited to enjoy the atmosphere of the turn of the century. Zabola Estate spreads over vast areas of the Carpathia Mountains. Our Guesthouses are dating back to the 18th, 19th and 20th century. They fulfilled different purposes in course of time. The Estate comprises in addition The Old Stables - a banquette house for leisure, drinks, dinners, receptions and other events. A refreshed and maintained English landscape garden with 2 lakes and 4 ponds, pavilions, terraces, a sauna in the woods, stables, barns and walking, hiking and carriage-tracks are yours to enjoy. The rich nature and wildlife we are living in and with is of high importance to us. Next to wild ducks, storks and great blue herons, the Estate and its adjunct forest gives home to bears, deer, wild boar, stags, wolfs, lynx, bats, squirrels and owls.
We were not allowed to get into the Park, there were two huge but friendly dogs to intimidate yrespasser, and a polițe gentleman who said, "no entry, no way." We only wanted to take a few pictures but it was not possible, because of a " private event". Very disappointing,..

Travel to a place that time forgot. Count Kalnoky's family has returned to Transylvania after 50 years of exile. They set about finding ways to save their heritage and restore the Estate to its former character. Through the development of a unique tourism venture, the Kalnoky's are turning their vision into reality. Our guesthouses in the Transylvanian village of Miklosvar / Miclosoara date back to the 1800’s and before. The buildings have been carefully restored in order to preserve their original charm and character. The guesthouses are situated within spacious gardens, some with storks nesting on nearby rooftops. They have been beautifully furnished with antiques in the Transylvanian Szekler and Saxon styles. To ensure that our guests have a warm and comfortable stay also in winter, we have enhanced the original wood stoves by a hidden central heating system. The village has little infrastructure, therefore we cannot (and do not wish to) claim technical perfection. Some streets remain unpaved and pot-holed, so can become dusty in the sun and muddy after the rain. There can be no denying the rustic charm and original character, which offers an opportunity to step back in time, as if you were in a 19th century novel and had come to visit friends in Transylvania's countryside.
We stayed in the Prince Charles guesthouse in November 2018. There are good things about this place, but if you are afraid of dust on the furniture, some cobwebs in the corner, loose bathroom tiles and/or a slightly stained shower curtain, this is not the place for you. I was really looking forward to visiting this remote Romanian village and after reading the reviews knew I could tolerate random electrical or plumbing issues if they arose, but I expect perfection when it comes to cleanliness and tidiness. I'm not sure whether a regular housekeeping schedule exists at the Estate. But, what I do know is that the bed sheets that were drying outside on the line when we arrived were still there when we left three days later. Guest quarters aside, the candlelit dinners by the fireplace in the wine cellar were superb. Both wine and food were excellent. Breakfasts in the main house were good too. And, we loved walking around the bucolic grounds, visiting the farm animals and watching the cows come home from work each afternoon. The daily excursions were fun too but the dinners were definitely the highlight. It has taken me over three years to write about our less than desirable guesthouse because we really enjoyed meeting the people that work here and run the place. I just wish I had read a review like this before I decided to stay at Count Kalnocky's. I wish their group nothing but the best.

The Guesthouse is right in the center of Saint George only a few steps away of the town's institutions and most of the pubs and restaurants. After arrival you don't have to drive to find a nice place to relax or to taste the local cuisine. Everything is at your hand, around us. We belie that flexibility and constant development is mostly valued feature of our business. Tourists are GUESTS and they should be treated with respect. At the Ferdinand guesthouse we also serve breakfast where local products and self made things make up the spine of the day's main meal.
We stayed for 11 days in July 2021. There is no pride of ownership, they don't even try. We had to ask for extra pillows and hangers. Bring your toiletries, because there's no soap to wash your hands, no shampoo, the dispensers are empty. We had to ask for toilet paper when it ran out. They don't clean the rooms, change the towels while you are there. The rooms are sparse. The water tank broke and after they fixed it, the toilet was leaking water all over the floor. Breakfast is included, but it's not kept warm, it's buffet style, so you better get there first thing. The only thing going for it is the central location, and some rooms have air conditioning.
