Banoge House

Banoge House is a charming, spacious country house just 40 minutes from Belfast, outside Moira, in the quiet little village of Donaghcloney. Almost hidden from view from the country road by the expanse of trees, this beautiful house is complimented by extensive gardens. The porch at the front is perfect for morning coffee or enjoying a summer's evening. Admire the handcrafted staircase in the hallway that leads to the guest bedrooms on the second and third floors. One of the large reception rooms has seating in the bay window with a beautiful view overlooking the countryside. The second sitting room is just down the hall, adjacent to the library. There is a large, rustic, country style kitchen with a table to easily seat the whole family as well as a more formal dining room and internal courtyard. Upstairs, each room has its own character in keeping with this period home. Wandering outside to the gardens, you will soon realise that there is a lot to discover with steps to the large lawns, apple trees, garden maze and little 'secret garden' terrace. A wonderful outdoor space to enjoy for adults and children alike. Banoge House is available to book exclusively for your family or group of up to 24 guests.

BEAUTIFUL BANOGE HOUSE...DON'T HESITATE TO GO

Reviewed By CharlaineF3

Well where do I start ?....our stay was Monday 3rd to Wednesday 5th January 2022 and what a fabulous way to start off the year..we had truly the most beautiful stay at beautiful Banoge House....what a "fabulous find" when I simply searched "country houses Northern Ireland"...this was a little extra surprise Christmas gift I sprung on my mum, fiancé (& I) & it exceeded what I already "just knew" would be a beautiful time in a beautiful place. Honestly I cannot speak more highly of John & Avril Turner & our entire first stay at their beautiful Banoge House....I am already planning visit number 2. From the outset, any contact to check anything, which was with Avril by telephone, always was a pleasure & she was so helpful - I add that my first call was to check the prices being quoted on-line, as they seemed so very inexpensive in line with the grandeur of the House ☺. John Turner esquire (lol...what I call him) met us on arrival & well what a host! such a warm friendly welcome...felt we were visiting a good friend straightaway...a sure sign of the fab hospitality & kindness which we surely received throughout our entire time there. I will elaborate on a little blip at the beginning, just to praise the very kind way in which it was handled....it was discovered by my mum mentioning she would have difficulty stepping into the bath to have a shower, that we were placed in the wrong room (number 3) at first, & this was very smoothly & quickly sorted - I hadnt even noticed this, as the room was just so beautiful & I had moved everything in & settled...and to be honest really wanted to stay there....but however, John took us to room 1, which was beautiful too & had a 4-poster bed, a single bed & en-suite with bath & shower..honestly nothing was too much trouble....John is just full of such unassuming kindness....and our room was beautiful, with views of the front lawns. Check-in time was 3pm, & due to my discovering a suspected slow puncture when we were fortunately nearby, we checked in around 3.20pm. From the start John warmly welcomed us & offered to help carry our luggage in etc & before we knew it, he was asking us what our plans were for dinner & was offering to cook dinner for us!!; our booking was only bed & breakfast so I had not been expecting dinner too....we were wanting to just get takeaway food if that was ok, which it was. I mentioned about the slow puncture & John immediately recommended where I could go to get that sorted. John decided to get takeaway food too & happily offered to collect the food etc....& he also obliged in letting me accompany him as I was wary of driving my car any further that night...& I needed to go to the bank etc...John asked on route what we'd like for breakfast & did the grocery shopping accordingly ?. We all ate together in the communal kitchen which is gorgeous & massive...John joined us for a while....& it was a pleasure & great fun conversing with John...he then got a roaring fire going for us in the main front lounge....just beautiful....John joined us for a while then left us to enjoy our evening relaxing. As I say, such a great host, great conversation & great fun but also mannerly in giving us all time on our own too. We didn't get to meet Avril which was a pity, but we hopefully will next time. John mentioned about the expansion plans for Banoge House, namely Glamping Pods, Sauna etc, and shared about the already additional facilities available on site, ie Pizza Cabin & Barbeque & Hot Tub, which I unfortunately didn't get to see on my walk-about before we checked out; although as it presently stands & all that it already has, it is a truly stunning house...I felt like I was in a National Trust property, or an exquisite history house...loved every minute of being there....& the grounds are just stunning too. To say I highly recommend Banoge House & The Turners is an understatement....I say "every good thing from above" on John & Avril in what they do & continue to do in & through Banoge House...just exceptional & cannot wait to return....will be the first of many stays.

Basil Sheils Bar & Restaurant Armagh - B&B Accommodation

Our perfect Wedding venue!

Reviewed By Jennifer I

We had our wedding here in August 2021. From the day and hour we booked, the staff, especially Geraldine could not do enough for us. They kept in touch and asked exactly what we wanted. Nothing was too big or too difficult, sheils agreed to all our requests and made it happen. From start to finish our day was exactly what we wanted, the staff were so attentive and friendly, the head chef Connor & crew completely blew us away with his food (everyone raved about every dish) simply beautiful food. Wedding or not the food is too die for! It's lashed from start to finish on our wedding day and the staff were so accomadating and made sure this made no impact on our day! The atmosphere was relaxed, which was our main 'want' for our day, and we couldn't help but make a run for it to the bridge for some photographs in the beautiful surroundings. We could not recommend Basil Sheils enough if you are looking a wedding venue or even just to go for dinner or a night out. We had the best day, & Sheils made everything so easy and stress free. Thank you to all the staff.

Superb! A real find.

I have stayed in the Bannview before, and always found it comfortable and fiendly, but this stay - at the beginning of March - was even better. I was given an appartement/studio room, with kitchen, dinning area, large television, comfy bed, and ensuite - absolutely spotless.... of yes, it also had a balcony. Not quite the weather to be outside and the main view was of Tesco & The Range - but look a little to the right and there was the river. I could not fault it. Also excellent breakfast and friendly service. Convenient for the town - easy walking distance: in my opinion hard to beat - this is the place to stay in Portaqdown.

Had an absolute nightmare with this man. Booked through Air Bnb and then he asked us to cancel and book directly through him. Took deposit and then called every other day changing information e.g. check in time, check out time. He booked another random guest in on the same weekend by "mistake" asking 2 of us to stay in the main house with him. He also demanded unnecessary details about each person staying. Cancelled in advance and owner threatened to use my card details to take rest of the money anyway. Had to block his number as he called almost everyday since and threatened to "get someone to pay me a visit." Have reported!
