Warwick Hall Estate offers luxurious hotel accommodation two miles from Carlisle and the M6 at Exit 43 junction with the A69. Perfect for a stopover on the road north (dogs welcome!) or stay a while if you have time to explore Hadrian's Wall and the beautiful Border countryside. Private house parties are our specialty - it's what the house was built for. Take over the entire house with its nine en suite bedrooms for exclusive use. Delicious food, excellent wine, afternoon tea in front of roaring log fires, and everything done just as it should be. You'll find long beautiful walks on the estate right out the front door. Two miles of riverbank on the River Eden through ancient beech avenues, a huge walled garden, things to do, places to go.
We had a perfect family celebration here the Jubilee weekend. Croquet on the lawn, a swim in the River Eden, dinner in a dining room filled with flowers, a musical soiree in the drawing room in front of the fire and qi gong in the gardens the morning after. The setting was memorable and everyone was delighted with their rooms. We were a multigenerational group of 15 adults, two dogs and a baby, and Warwick hall provided everything from rooms with spectacular views, an easy access room, a suites with a kitchen (handy for feeding the baby), all clean and comfortable. Staff were so helpful and keen to ensure we had a good time. Thank you Val for welcoming our family to your home.

And don't forget, we are the only B&B in England with it's own Roman Well.
Sat nav took me to the wrong road, but plenty of parking space when we did locate the House. No one to welcome us, but we can read and followed the directions left by Julie. A very clean and tidy room with lovely white, large and soft towels and a small but perfectly functional en-suite. The lounge was very comfortable. No evening meal provision and no local nearer than 5 miles. So take-away was the order of the day, we choose badly, but thats life. The bed was comfortable, the pillows were not. The famous Cumbrian breakfast was very disappointing, poor quality items.

Its location makes it an ideal base for touring this beautiful region, including the Lake District and Roman Wall.Built in the 1840s, Heads Nook Hall retains all the original Victorian features including a panelled dining room. The spacious guest rooms have extensive views of the magnificent grounds. Each room has a double or kingsize bed and an en suite bathroom with either a large Victorian bath or shower. Free WiFi is available in the guest rooms and there is internet access in the morning room. There are plenty of woodland walks within the eight acres of grounds owned by the family. We also have a luxury self catering cottage next to Heads Nook Hall which sleeps 4-6
Stayed in a very fancy “blue” room with super furnishings and nice views. We went to “The Duke of Cumberland” for a great evening of beer and food. This B&B does not offer meals at night, so you have to get back in the car ( or taxi) to search for food. Lovely breakfast served by pleasant staff keen to chat. Not sure about the orange water feature outside.

The Queens is a beautiful Country Inn offering exceptional service, real fires, quality food, great drinks and comfy rooms. It sits just off the A69, 3 miles east of Carlisle and 1.5 miles from junction 43 of the M6. We offer a range of real ales, fine wines and spirits along with homecooked, freshly prepared seasonal meals.
We went to the pub for Saturday lunch after receiving vouchers offering 50% off adult meals throughout April. We handed in our vouchers when we arrived/ordered but were then told we had only handed in 1 voucher when we needed 2 for the 2 families in our party, after checking they then informed us that we had as stated handed in 2 vouchers. The food was lovely both children's meals and adults (although a little more veg wouldn't have gone a miss, my husband had 1 small piece of broccoli, 1 carrot and a couple of sugar snaps) and one of the dishes on the menu was not ready (when only having a small menu of around 10 dishes you would think they would ensure they were all ready. We then ordered puddings for 3 of the children in our party and 1 adult. When the bill arrived I noticed we had been charged for a full banana crepes instead of a child's portion, when I queried this I was told I didn't make that clear when ordering although I did state it was for my 8 year old, so why they would give her an adults portion is beyond me. I was then asked would I like the bill sorted which I felt was unfair, making me feel like I was causing a fuss, I therefore said no we paid the bill (and the adults portion of pudding) and left. On reflection I should have said yes but when under pressure with people looking I was made to feel like a nuisance. Shame really as the pub itself was lovely, it has been done out beautifully and as stated the food was of a nice standard. The customer service however, leaves a lot to be desired.

We arrived early Sunday afternoon for a night’s stay and dinner. The Place was packed with locals and day trippers. By the looks of the food that passed us by, the serving were more than adequate and the clientele seemed satisfied.we had to wait till our dinner reservation time, but the staff was very nice and helpful. Salllys seemed to be understaffed, as are most restaurants. Everyone was chipping in to provide the best service possible. Dinner menu was. Aries and very good We stayed at the hotel, modernized recently. Fresh milk in the fridge for coffee . And a wonderful breakfast served by the owner. Highly recommend

The welcome/reception was “hello your room is on the first floor “ the bathroom smelt as if somebody had been smoking in the room as did the hallway. The bed made me feel itchy. The room was hot and we were not allowed to open the window. The house keeping leaves a lot to be desired

We really enjoyed this meal and the change in decor and ownership was a big plus. The last time we were there, bluebottle and flies were on the food and plates and it was disgusting. I told the lady who was the part owner and she just said its summer there's nothing I can do. We loved the Roman pictures and helmets on the wall when we went today and the food was lovely. The owner was a very pleasant man and our food was brought to us quickly. We had 2 courses and both were lovely. It is worth 5 stars, but awarded 4 as people might find it a little bit expensive if they have a few children. Having said that, a lot of places have gone up in price. Would definitely recommend and we will be going back. Well done vallum House!!

We stayed overnight on the way back from holiday in Scotland and it was the perfect spot - it felt like an extension of our holiday. Steve the landlord was the perfect host, very welcoming. He cooks all the food and is an excellent chef. The food was delicious and extremely good value. After a comfortable night's sleep, we were treated to a full English breakfast with home-cured bacon and home-made sausages - heaven! Highly recommend and will be staying there again on our next trip North!
