Travelers generally come to Bilbao to see the Guggenheim—some for the art inside, but many for the amazing building itself. The Fine Arts Museum and the Basque Museum may not have been designed by Frank Gehry, but are worth a visit, and you can catch international opera stars at the Palacio Euskalduna.

The room was really nice, with a great attention to details. The location is super central, I wouldn’t ask better than this! The only reason why I didn’t give 5 stars is because the room was quite noisy ( but this is because of the central position).

Positives: - short walk from airport bus stop and Guggenheim - friendly and helpful check in staff - pretty comfortable bed Negatives: - room smelled of cigarette smoke even though the rooms are non-smoking. We found evidence of cigarettes on the window ledge, likely from the last guest who ignored the rules - I sleep quite deeply but my partner was disturbed by noise and light from outside so didn’t sleep very well Overall it was fairly basic accommodation but suitable for the night. We booked very last minute so didn’t expect the most value but if we had more options we would likely have booked somewhere else, especially if we were staying longer than one night.

Loved this little place which is central to many bars and restaurants. The room was good and had lovely little amenity kits left out. The bed wasn’t amazing but this was more than made up for by the service. We loved the free breakfast the next day with fresh orange juice, yogurt etc. They give a code for after hours access. I recommend this place for Bilbao trips.

I will preface this review with the comment that just because this hotel didn't work for me doesn't mean it wouldn't for others. I am walking the Camino de Santiago using a luggage transfer service that requires someone be available to receive the luggage the day of arrival and deliver it back to the service the day of departure. The Art Lodge had no staff on site during my one night stay except the cleaner who is there 11.00 to 13.30-14.00. When I asked about luggage receipt the respondent was quite dismissive - if the bag wasn't delivered before 13.30 there would be no one to receive it. Luckily it was delivered while the cleaner was still there. I hardly slept worrying about luggage collection the next day and after speaking with the service in the morning waited outside until they came to collect the bag. Camino walkers have a "passport" that is stamped each day and shown at the end in Santiago de Compostela to justify issuing of the Compostela by the pilgrim office for verification of the journey. With no staff on site there was no stamp that day of course. I had read other reviews that noted limited reception hours but none that said there were no hours. Perhaps I missed that comment. Luggage woes aside the hotel occupies half a floor on the 1st floor (2nd to Americans) of a building that seems to be otherwise apartments. Entry is by codes for the building door, hotel door and room door that are sent when the room is ready for occupancy. My room was very small with a window opening onto an airshaft that also hosted windows from 2 other rooms. The room was quite dark and felt a bit exposed with other windows so close. Everything was very clean and in good condition with pretty decor of palm trees and birds on a feature wall. There was a good A/C unit and the wifi was excellent. There was also a kettle and an espresso maker with no pods. There was nowhere to hang towels in the bathroom area - no hook or rail or even a surface. Overall this hotel just didn't work for me at all but all the other positive reviews suggest that I am an outlier.

Very well situated in all respects, particularly if you arrive by train, the Begona is a tad quirky but well provisioned, calm and comfortable with generous room space. It really is excellent value. No breakfasts but plenty of choice just outside. We would definitely come back and I cannot recommend the Begona too highly.

I stayed at Lo Bilbao for 5 nights, right in the middle of the Bilbao Festival. This place is in a lovely square in the beautiful Old City, with plenty of food options. It's a 20 minute or so very pkeasant walk along the river to the Guggenheim Museum. I had the only single room. It is small and has no windows, but the no windows turned out to be a plus as I could barely hear the noise of the festivities. And there was plenty of noise! The room is very clean. The only negative is that the wifi cut out regularly.

I very rarely write reviews but feel I need to here to warn others. The room we were in was very, very noisy all night - didn’t sleep properly for 3 nights. Could hear all the traffic and people outside until 2am until the traffic restarted at 4am. The windows were only single glazed and didn’t fit that well. Did also speak to another resident who confirmed it was the same for her. The toilet was not separated from the bedroom ie no door so privacy was poor. The toilet was a mechanical one and went off hours after it was used most often in the middle of the night. Breakfast was restricted. Cleanliness was good and it was in a good location. However, overall from our experience would not recommend if you value your sleep!

I needed my boyfriend to stay over while I was traveling and this was the perfect place. This isn't a 5-star hotel, but it did the trick and we were very comfortable - here is why. PROS - Coming from Bilbao Airplane or taking Bus?...: It is close to 2 blocks from Bilbao Intermodal and if you are coming from the airport, this hotel is an easy walk from where the bus drops you off in San Mamés. The location is also SUPER safe. - Transportation: If you look down the street and cross it, you will also see the tram station along with the metro station. - Food?: There is food everywhere. This is Bilbao. Spend 2 euros (or really please buy a Barik card) and go into the city, you won't be disappointed. The best part about the tram is that it goes theoretically left or right. I live close to NYC so I understand it can be complicated, but the system in Bilbao, chef's kiss. - Bed/Room: Pro? The bed/room you get in sleek, modern, and for a REALLY CHEAP PRICE! Please don't hassle your way into spending a lot of money on a hotel in Spain. It is not truly worth it. Just get this place, feel comfortable, and safe. - Staff? There are not many, but the ones that are there will help and accommodate you. You just need to be nice. I say this because I went in to check in and someone was being helped. They weren't that nice to staff, so please remember, we are all human. CONS - Cleaning: I will say, the bathrooms were clean, but the headboard for me was dusty. It might have been that the room wasn't used a lot. But please don't worry, it did not effect my stay considering the price was reasonably cheap. - THE ENTRANCE!: You need to understand, their rating is a 2/5 stars but it is NOT because they are bad, in Spain it is based on what the hotel/hostels have and DON'T have. So what they don't have is a front reception. Listen closely if you are going to go here. Once you get on the street, you will need to buzz into the door as if you are requesting to go to someone's apartment. OR they will give you a code before hand. Once you go in, you need to go straight till you can anymore. Make a left and find the elevator. There you will need to press the

A newly reformed pension, Located in the heart of Bilbao, offers all comforts to enjoy the most emblematic places such as Old Town, the Guggenheim Museum or an unforgettable walk along the margin of the Nervión. Bilbao enjoy from your heart ...
Roquefer was a little challenging to find as I wasn't expecting an apartment-like building that you have to buzz to get in. Otherwise, everything went very well. The location in the old City is perfect; the manager was very friendly and helpful.
