We only had one night in Barberton because we were on our way to the Kruger Park. I would like to have more time to explore in future. We had a good stay and found everyone very friendly and prepared to go out of their way to help us.

We recently stayed a night in this quaint guest house. The owners were helpful and friendly, and our room was comfortable with a lovely stoep (verandah area) overlooking the pool had a beautiful view. The rooms had tea making facilities, although without a bar fridge. A fan was provided, but I would imagine that in the heat of summer the room could be quite stuffy and hot. We had dinner on site - although a good home cooked meal, we felt it was overpriced for what we got. We only realised when we saw the bill the next morning that there was an additional charge for dessert as well as tea and coffee. The breakfast (included in the rate) was good with eggs prepared to order. Generally a pleasant stay.

Bushwhacked is a self catering guesthouse in a secure, peaceful location with amazing views over the valley. There are good walks out the back and good birding. We now have a small, basic campsite( no trailers, small tents) in a secure scenic setting. Hot shower.
The place is situated in the mountain face and is surrounded by the sounds of the wild life and none of the busy Town below. For a quite rest and a feel like you are in the bush do not hesitate to book with Bushwhacked Lodge. Facilities was clean and I had all that I needed for a peaceful stay. Thank you for having me.

Although a bit out of the way, I really enjoyed my stay at this place on a recent business trip to Barberton. While the rooms are fairly average, the setting is awesome, with nice grounds, an amazing pool, and beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. I stayed in one of the lower long blocks of rooms – a row of about 10 attached rooms. The room was basic & spartan but functional, with a small kitchenette and fridge. I didn’t like the fact that there was no functional computer desk. Even more disappointing was that there was no Wifi in the rooms – you had to go up the hill to the lodge/reception to get email. In this day and age, there is no excuse for not extending Wifi to all of your rooms. The food and service there was reasonably good, and I ate all of my meals there. There is not much to do there. I was hoping for some kind of gym, activity, or sporting equipment around the expansive grounds, but no. I resorted to going on daily runs outside and down the road. The conference facilities were a bit basic unfortunately, even the AC wasn’t working correctly so we had to have all doors open and hope for a breeze. Overall, a bit rough around the edges, but a nice setting. I recommend it to travelers in the area as a good base for exploring the Barberton area. But not really a good place for business people.
