This establishment is outside the very centre of the town but still near cafes/ restaurants. Good: - Breakfast lots of choice. Options for vegetarians. I think there would be enough options for those gluten intolerant also. Both hot and cold options, standard spread for European nations. - Complimentary drinks, biscuits and fruit if you get pekish. - Bed was very comfortable (I like soft bed) - Room was a good size. - Reception host - very friendly, attentive and competent. Spoke English, German and french that I heard. - Parking - Parking is free and achievable. - Close to the mountain bike and hiking trails - Bakery cafe across road, supermarket 200m down road and pubs and restaurants on the same street and just a short walk. - Only a few kms walk to town site with public transport nearby. - Transport passes are provided by the hotel for free to help guests get around. Things to consider: - Road noise was evident from the room for those that are light sleepers (doesn't bother me). - No lifts so be prepared to haul your suitcase up and down stairs (think this is a standard in Europe). - I think a person in a wheel chair would have great difficulty accessing this hotel. - limited shelving options in bathroom to place toiletries. Overall I think this hotel presents good value for money and I would recommend it to a friend. Thank you to the hosts for being so pleasant and accommodating.

We called in at the Sackman Hotel and were told there was just the buffet. Thinking that would be fine we put our jackets down and looked at the selection. No wonder there were just 2 other couples. The offering was dreadful. The lovely lady at reception seemed to understand and suggested the Lowen hotel 80 meters away. I see from the bill that is owned by Nico and Daniel Sackmann so must be a multi outlet family. The stube for dining was very impressive. Full of Black Forest charm and with great service by an Italian guy who was born in Germany. The schnitzels were excellent.

We have stopped at this hotel spontaneously, as we toured the Black Forest on a motorcycle, for one night. Well this is quite quaint hotel, heavy decorations both inside the rooms and public areas aim to create (I guess) a traditional Black-Forest atmosphere, lack coherence and common design, so in the end on my humble opinion this style was nothing but memorably weird. But as beauty is in the eye of the beholder, this is NOT the reason for the low rating. The reason for this rate is the fact that we have being charged 130 EURO for B&B only in the middle of the week not in the high season!! Short review of this hotel website reveals that the highest room rate for Half Board in a high season is 123EURO!! I think, what happened here was very wrong!

A little bit old fashioned at first glance, but everything you might need is there. Views from our balcony were just stunning, owners are friendly, breakfast is better than you could expect. Good choise for a short stay in the hearth of Schwarzwald.

Service is zeer goed.
