The festive city of San Juan is the perfect place to experience true Puerto Rican culture. Get to know its roots by exploring the vibrant neighborhood of El Viejo San Juan (Old San Juan), which consists mostly of Spanish colonial buildings. Flesh out your self-guided history lesson with a visit to El Castillo San Felipe del Morro, a 16th century citadel that’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Then reward yourself with a cooling dip at Luquillo or Carolina Beach, then a tasty tour of the Bacardi rum plant.

The most popular of San Juans beaches is also the most lively.
A must visit if you are in Puerto Rico. San Juan is full of beautiful beaches and great places to visit. A visit to the beach is best done at ocean park. This dog friendly beach has a track for running volleyball tennis. And many amenities. There are many Airbnb apartments throughout.

Balneario El Escambron is a little beach, just to the east of Old San Juan. It is a family-friendly beach, with a small crescent of clean sand and usually calm waters, thanks to the coral reef a short distance from the beach.
Soft sand, clear water & lots of sea life so bring goggles or snorkel gear! Nice restrooms and rinse off stations available for use. Great for laying out, snorkeling or just swimming in the protected reef area. Waves seemed to be smallest in the morning and at dusk If you have smaller kids. Lifeguards on duty and family friendly minus a couple groups of teenage springbreakers who were playing music but at a very respectful volume. Would definitely recommend spending a day here no matter your age. Not a lot of food/ drink places in the walking area so pack snacks and water for your day.

Playita del Condado Beach is an oasis in the heart of Condado. Its hidden just off the east corner of Ashford Ave and Puente Dos Hermanos bridge. A tropical paradise of warm crystalline waters and sparkling golden sands shaded by palm trees and almond trees. This small beach is perfect for kids and family. From the beach, you can enjoy a wonderful view a 500-year-old Fortin (Fort) San Geronimo contrasting with the modernarchitecture of Paseo Caribe at the Plaza Caribe Hilton and the Condado BeachHotel which is only a few blocks away. After lunch you have enough time to drive to Old San Juanand take a walk down the cobbled stone streets of the old city that take you toel Morro fort. A magnificent display of iconic Spanish war architecturebuilt 5 centuries ago and is still standing forever watchful.
This small beach offers a lot of opportunities for snorkeling. I saw quite a few fish, coral, and sea plants. It is much calmer in the water than in Condado Beach. There are only small waves. It is right by a bridge.

Beach that extends for several miles east of downtown (Old San Juan), which is lined with high-rise resorts and packed with sun worshippers.
Staying at La Concha we enjoyed Condado Beach which is a public beach which is used by guests at La Concha and the Vanderbilt. This year they offered lounge chairs and umbrellas to rent for the day to the public. This is a beautiful beach in Condado with nearby restaurants to enjoy a take out lunch at the beach. As mentioned previously the surf here is dangerous. During our stay we witnessed a man saved by a surfer who got in over his head real quick. If not for that surfer he would have been another statistic. If you swim in front of the sea shell of La Concha the surf is a little quieter. Please remember to tip the beach guys. They work hard to provide a great service!

I went down to this beach mostly just becasue I had time to kill and it was close. I'd heard some really mixed reviews prior so didn't expect much. I was wonderfully surprised to find how much I loved this beach! The water was crystal clear and perfectly calm and safe as long as you stayed a distance from where the waves hit the rocks. It almost resembled a giant natural pool. There was a rockier area where there were a ton of tropical fish. It is also not very populated so it was very easy for me to keep an eye on my belongings on the shore as I swam. I would definitely reccomend spending some time at this little beach if you are staying in Old San Juan. I loved it!
