Robberg 5 Beach

Reviewed By Heatherybluff - George, South Africa

This gorgeous 5km stretch of beach is well worth a visit, especially in low tide, when you can walk all the way from the Beacon Island Hotel to the peninsula of Robberg and back. There are lifesavers in certain areas, and one has to be very careful of rip tides, so best to stick to the designated swimming areas. A gorgeous beach with lovely views.

Bollard Bay

Bollard Bay is a model family beach with safe swimming in shallow waters.

We’ve just had four most amazing days at the Bollard Bay house in Knysna. From the moment we arrived, the hosts Mike and Sarah welcomed us as if we were family. Their house is absolutely spectacular. The bedrooms are spacious and beautifully appointed with no detail overlooked. The beds are enormous! Seriously you can fit three in the bed. They have two beautiful swimming pools with comfortable sun loungers over looking the most unreal view of the bay. We woke to the smell of freshly baked vanilla muffins, and went into breakfast to be served fresh fruit, yogurts, cereals and your choice of cooked breakfast. Seriously 5star stuff. The cleaners are amazing, making sure your rooms are tidy and equipped with any toiletries you may need. The island is super secure and is absolutely amazing for early morning/evening jogs. Book early because I’m sure this amazing guesthouse gets booked early. Thanks so much for making our stay so memorable! The Gould’s, London. X

Noetzie Beach

Just to the East of Knysna, at the end of a dirt road, lies Noetzie, a secluded beach which is proudly encircled by castles. It is one of the last remaining homes for the very rare African Black Oystercatcher and is therefore a conservancy.

Reviewed By Fynbos_Feathers - Cape Town Central, South Africa

Worth the visit, even just for a quick-ish stop. The road there is gravel and not in the best condition, but the worst section is about the first km off the highway. The road does get a bit better. Once you leave the parking it is another 5-10min walk to the beach. Stunning beach, beautiful scenery. Ugly “castles” ruin the atmosphere. But even so it is still breathtaking.

Brenton on Sea

Brenton-on-Sea is great for walking and sunbathing and is popular with paragliders. A big rock formation, castle Rock, is a favourite fishing spot for locals. Swimming is dangerous because of rip currents.

Spent one night at the Brenton on Sea self catering cottages with my family on our way back from Port Elizabeth. Situated in a secluded area just as you exit knysna coming from Port Elizabeth. Probably one of the best decisions we could have made as a family. The cottage was clean, neat and tidy. Very spacious. Had all the amenities required like a very clean fridge. stove and microwave together with utensils and crockery you can expect from a self catering facility. The view overlooking the ocean was absolutely breathtaking.A restaurant about 300m away served a variety of foods on their menu which was both good value for money and tasty. I would certainly go back for a longer stay and would recommend these cottages to anyone who is looking for peace and tranquility away from the mad rush of city life.
