When you think “adventure travel” you probably think of far-flung places like Belize and Alaska—not Wisconsin. But if you’re an outdoor adventurer, you’ll find plenty of places to explore in Wisconsin. A vacation in Wisconsin can put you close to the Kettle Moraine State Forest, which has excellent biking trails. Or choose Wisconsin’s Apostle Islands—kayakers will love exploring Lake Superior’s many caves and shipwrecks.
Packers fans don’t wear those cheese-wedge hats for nothing! Foodies will love tasting as many of Wisconsin’s artisanal cheeses as possible. Either drive from cheesemaker to cheesemaker, or choose a Wisconsin vacation in a town with a good farmers’ market—then the cheesemakers bring their wares to you. And what goes better with artisanal cheese than craft beer? In Milwaukee, visit the Lakefront and Sprecher Breweries for tours and tastings.
Wisconsin Dells is a classic family vacation destination. A vacation in Wisconsin Dells will put you close to all the excitement—you’ll have to tear the kids away from the theme parks, wave pools and water parks in Wisconsin Dells!
Lake Geneva boasts clean beaches, golf, and a small-town feel that definitely appeals to city dwellers—it’s a popular getaway for residents of Chicago.

My husband and I stayed at The Osthoff and within walking distance was a great home town brewery - Switch Gear. Loved the atmosphere! The bar is spacious. They have an outdoor area and a side room for special events like wedding receptions, painting events, family reunions, etc. The beer is fantastic. My husband enjoyed an IPA called Snub Nosed Monkey... the story behind the name is great as well. Nate is the brewer and his wife Linda is the opening “beertender!” She’s awesome!! She made us feel like family. She told us about the people who own it together and how they all chip in to make the place go. The bar top is gorgeous; made with gear inlays.. super cool! They also have tables made with barn doors and poured acrylic. All of the tables and chairs were done by hand. My husband tried 4 different brews and enjoyed them all. They have large mason jars filled with pretzels and serve it with the most amazing cheese spread that is locally made with some of their beer. A couple of the workers also work at the cheese plant where it’s made. Lots of great clothing “gear” promoting their beer to purchase as well. They also host an Oktoberfest event that rocks the little town! Great people, great beer... what more do you need on a stop in the little town of Elkhart Lake. Love, love, love Linda!!

Most breweries tell you how they make beer--that is simple enough. This tour gives you the history of beer in America, takes you through the old brewery and gives you free beer on the tour. Scot was a great tour guide. Try the Endiker (sp) beer. Old school--first rate. I understand there is another tap room on the weekend tours. Unfortunately, we didn't make it to the mansion, which I'm told is a must see.

This is definitely the place to go for a cocktail if you're in Milwaukee. It's what you would expect an old time cocktail lounge would have been like in the 30's or 40's. We discovered Bryant's when my daughter attended Marquette University in Milwaukee. There were 4 of us, I ordered a Pink Squirrel, since this was the birthplace of this wonderful drink and they didn't disappoint. My daughter's boyfriend ordered a Wisconsin Old Fashioned and my husband and daughter had them create their own cocktails. They were served a Georgia Peach and La Paloma. All the drinks were spectacular. We hope to stop in again this February. It's worth the price you pay for these unique drinks and a unique experience. This is a real treasure and should be on everyone's bucket list.

Perfect place for happy hour, couples, friends, work. Crowd is mixed but usually a mature, fun bunch. Don’t worry about conversational ideas. When you run out, the atmosphere will definite keep it going. Super fun! Enjoy!!!!
