From ornate mansions to ocean views, this charming city - the largest in Maine - will enchant you. Saunter down the brick sidewalks and cobblestone streets of the revitalized Old Port District, where you can browse through bookstores, explore craft shops and eat to your heart's content. Visit the Portland Head Light, which dates back to 1791, and is the oldest lighthouse still in continuous use in the U.S. The great poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow is the city's native son, and you can visit his childhood home, the Wadsworth-Longfellow House. With kids in hand, enjoy the highly interactive Children's Museum of Maine. And then go next door to the calmer Portland Museum of Art, a small, but eclectic museum with Impressionist works, Maine landscapes by Homer and Wyeth and other collections. Land or sea is an option here, so if you're tired of the street life, take one of the popular scenic cruises or whale watches, or hop on a ferry to the islands in Casco Bay. At the end of the day, and without kids in hand, unwind and rest your tired feet at one of the city's brewpubs.

From the food, service, bartending, staff, security, seating/view, and sound system, AURA is the best venue in Portland hands down. And always affordable for anyone with GA tix at around 25 bucks and reasonable well and beer prices. Everyone made sure my brother in a wheelchair was treated with dignity and the elevators are a bonus right to an excellent view of the stage. I've been here several times and there is not a bad seat in the house. Saw Three Dog Night and can't wait to see Al Stewart in a couple of weeks. Thank you! And shout out to Tim Smith and all the staff for going the "extra mile"!

We are a combination tap house and retail beer shop right in the heart of the Old Port. The very first such venue in Portland, enjoy a curated selection of Maine's best beers. Flights, full pours, and everything in between. Then, bring home some of your favorites by building your own mixed six pack (or more; there's no limit) in our retail section. Your Maine Beer adventure starts and ends @ The Hub.

Gritty McDuff’s, Maine’s Original Brew Pub specializes in hand-crafted English style ales and traditional and creative pub fare, in a friendly and fun atmosphere. Both Gritty's fine ales and the pubs have won countless "best of" awards through our twenty-six years of operation. Our standard brews are session beers, Gritty’s Pub-Style Pale Ale, McDuff’s Best Bitter, Black Fly Stout, allowing one to have multiple beers within a reasonable time period without overwhelming the senses. Our seasonal and varietal ale offerings are more adventurous, some with a higher ABV, and some with higher IBU. We brew a beer for all craft brew palates. For the diner, we offer traditional pub fare alongside not so traditional specialty items. Our pub-style long tables with benches easily accommodate parties of all sizes and add to the camaraderie.

Let me offer up a different kind of review. Forget the showing up on the dance club type nights, show up at Bubbas at noon time on Tuesday and you’ll get a real feel for what this place is about. Senior citizens drinking cheap beer and watching gunsmoke, ignoring the fantastically unique environment around them. I love every 1970’s lunch box hanging from the ceiling, and weird manikin sitting next to me in one of the “seasoned” booths. Go here! This place is Maine.
