Perched on the banks of the wide Swan River, between the Indian Ocean and the sands of the Nullarbor Desert, Perth is one of the world's most isolated cities, yet still boasts an active beach scene and smokin’ nightlife. Family-friendly Cottesloe is brimming with swimmers, surfers and snorkelers. Head north to Scarborough for a spirited beachside club scene. Coo at cute marsupials on ferry-accessible Rottnest Island, and don’t miss the views from King's Park and Botanic Gardens.

Jack Rabbit Slim's is a live music venue, bespoke bar, lounge, and late night diner rolled into one. You can catch live performances from international and local Australian artists every weekend, plus party late into the night with Perth's hardest partying crew, with DJ's spinning indie dance & hip-hop til 5am!

My friend booked us here at 8pm after we had dinner elsewhere. We were greeted at the door and advised to sign the visitors book and that it was table service & to only get up to go the toilet. I really appreciate the excellent communication between the staff and the patrons. It made me feel very confident that they are doing the right thing. This is mostly a rum cocktail bar but you can still order your standard drinks. I had a wine and a Singapore sling. The Singapore sling was excellent. Great flavour and good alcohol content (not weak). This is a small bar so I recommend you book ahead. Although it’s a small distance away from the city/train station don’t let that deter you. You will enjoy the walk along the terrace as all the city’s lights are on full display for you to take photos and enjoy.

Wolf Lane is one of Perth's best kept secrets. Come get lost in a small bar. Consider Wolf Lane a curation of collectables from Granny May and her life’s loves and adventures. May has travelled the world over the last 86 years collecting antiques and mementos from all over the globe. Discover her treasures nestled down an alleyway off Murray Street, an antique garage of sorts! In her intoxicating reality, fairytale narrative takes pride and place – think Red Riding Hood and Alice in Wonderland meets Snow White. Dive head first into a fantasy land over a fancy cocktail (or two) and down the rabbit hole we go. Like all good grannies May loves to bake, jam drops & sweet treats are her speciality. You'll find a collection of her favourite cookie tins spanning the walls. Ms May lives her life with more enthusiasm than most half her age - she can’t help but sing, dance and write. Explore her vinyl collection, sheet music and library of weathered books and journals over a quirky bar bite, or share plate with friends. There are lots of cosy corners but leave yourself time to explore every nook and cranny...says granny. Wolf Lane is open Friday and Saturday from 4pm to 1am and is available for private events and functions all other days of the week.

Quirky Prohibition Bar off the beaten track in Perth. Entrance is gained by providing the password through an iron grill in the unmarked door. This is a fun place with a bit of an eerie, dark feel to it which just adds to the atmosphere and serves excellent cocktails. Recommend for a different experience and some tasty cocktails.

THE BEST SMALL BAR WITH THE BIG COOLROOM Five 6 Eight is hotspot for those who like Great Beer, creative Cocktails and wicked Wines. In case you are wondering about our name – Five 6 Eight is the number of millilitres in a pint. No Schooners here (unless you want a half pint!)

me·chan·ics’ in·sti·tute /mɪˈkænɪks ˈɪnstɪˌtjuːt/ n. An educational establishment formed to provide adult education, particularly in technical subjects, to the working class. Bookings available, email or call to reserve. With access via a rear laneway, Mechanics Institute sits atop 222 William St, our rooftop terrace looking back over the cultural precinct and the city skyline. We offer a selection of cocktails changed daily and craft beer and artisan wine from around Australia and the world, with the added bonus of being able to order Flipside Burgers from the bar.
This is an upstairs rooftop bar, tucked away amongst the heritage rooftops of Northbridge, just off William Street. Outdoor setting, 70’s music, reasonable wine (we didn’t eat there but the food being served looked good). Apparently you can smoke there but not many were partaking if this. Youngish crowd as you would expect in this area, but also a few older bods like us who didn’t feel out of place. Enjoyable on a warm afternoon.
