A holiday in Norfolk is not a glamorous break. While the Norfolk Broads of East Anglia are a beautiful part of the UK, they represent a relaxing rural getaway rather than a high-powered city-break. Although its reputation is mostly rural, with people associating the county mostly with the wetlands of the Norfolk Broads, there are also towns such as Norwich and King's Lynn to visit, both of which provide shopping opportunities, nightlife and entertainment. Norfolk also contains a large stretch of coastline, and seaside destinations such as Cromer and Great Yearmouth mean there are great beaches to be found as well. Many areas of the Norfolk Broads and the coastal region are sites of outstanding natural beauty, and are also protected as bird reserves, so take a pair of binoculars on holiday. There are also popular wildlife attractions such as Banham Zoo, with a great collection of big cats, and Great Yarmouth's Sea Life Centre, one of the biggest of its kind in the country, complete with tropical sharks and conger eels. And of course, if any of your family are interested in boating, you'll need to rent a boat and explore the waterways of the Broads themselves!

We had a very pleasant 3 night stop over in the CL site right behind the pub in our Motorhome. The team at the pub were very welcoming and the pitches were decent sized and all with electric hook up. Food at the pub was excellent and very generous sized portions even for someone like myself with a big appetite. Unfortunately due to COVID-19, it’s a reduced menu but there was still plenty of choice, most meals were £8 each (no starters or desserts), home cooked and piping hot. They certainly didn’t disappoint at all There is a small railway stop about 200 yds walk but the line was under maintenance with a rail renewal programme for a couple of weeks otherwise it would have been very handy to visit Norwich and further without moving the Motorhome. The Sugar Factory is right next door to the inn but personally I didn’t find it a problem as the view along the Broads with plenty of passing boats more than made up for it! Definitely worth a visit - or a re-visit in our case!

The Fat Cat has a superb selection of ales which are constantly changing. Even though it is often very full, you will only have to wait less than a minute to be served. Staff are polite and knowledgeable and the clientele is always friendly. Best pub in Norwich

Great cocktails, great atmosphere, great service. Especially liked the provision of sanitary products in the bathroom for free. Only qualm would be small portions for £9 a drink. Have been twice and intend to go again!

Craft and real ale house in kings Lynn town centre, over 18's only, serving local ales and ciders from micro brewers, friendly, relaxed atmosphere, board games played regularly, recycled interior, award winning, tasters available, nip and growler glasses available to purchase
Absolutely love the Nip & Growler... always got great random beers on tap, nice and cosy, good music, fun to be had with board games and all in all, one of the best bars in King's Lynn... and Norfolk... maybe even the world... ;-)

Micro brewery and the finest pub in Norwich. A year round beer festival with great live music and the most entertaining quiz night for miles around with the most enthusiastic manager you could wish to meet.
Visited last week quieter than normal due to COVID-19 restrictions, but still joint number 1 pub in Britain in my humble opinion (along with the Fat Cat West End Street) Great quality and well kept beers as ever on offer along with great atmosphere friendly knowledgeable staff which makes it a must go to place to. Indulge in the cheesy chips which were delicious and great value for money. Can hardly wait for my next visit.

Being new to the area we were really nicely surprised by this hidden gem with its comfortable interior, pool table, smoking area, massive grassed area and friendly owner. Being almost next to a fish & chip / southern chicken / kebab house is an added bonus! ????

The Chequers, Wimbotsham, is a traditional village pub dating back to the mid 17th Century. Set within the heart of the picturesque village of Wimbotsham overlooking the village green, there are a number of good walks in the area centred around the pub. The Chequers is now under new ownership from the 18th April 2013 and is a family run Freehouse pub led by Linda and her niece Kim. We serve home cooked food, real ales and have been awarded cask marque. We are family friendly, have disabled access and welcome dogs. We also hold a Quiz night on a Thursday Evening 9pm start alternates between General Knowledge and Music there are free refreshments £1.00 Entry winnings are donated to local charities
We were given the best of welcomes and had loads of yummy sandwiches and chips waiting for us on of cycle trip. All the staff made us feel at home and the safety arrangements were simple and clear but not over zealous - so the atmosphere was relaxed and hospitable. Thank you.

You cannot miss this bright blue beacon of a pub and you'd miss out if you passed it by. Extensive menu with some great additions to usual pub fayre. We returned four times over our 12 day stay in Happisburgh. Every meal was of great quality with locally sourced ingredients. Sunday roast was cinch at 8 quid. My favourite was a lobster and crab salad for a tenner. New landlords arrived in Oct 19 and David and his staff team do a great job of looking after everyone. There's a warm welcome for dogs inside and outside in the large beer garden. In these COVID times every precaution is undertaken to keep everyone safe and socially distanced and, somehow, it doesn't detract from the experience. We are returning to Norfolk for a large family gathering later this month and we will be visiting more than once. Highly recommended.
