This is a little known museum, with spectacualr displays and unusual themes. The juxtapositioning of unrelated objectsmakes it particularly interesting. Well worth a detour

Fondazione Istituto di Alta Cultura Orestiadi Onlus

The mission of the Orestiadi Foundation is to reveal the common matrix of Sicilian, African and Eastern cultures. The Foundation hosts the ‘Trame Mediterranee’ Museum (Mediterranean Weave Museum), which displays historical and artistic objects, from ceramics to contemporary artworks, from fabrics to multimedia installations. The Foundation organizes the annual Orestiadi Festival, dedicated to contemporary dance performances and theatre plays. Past events hosted Bob Wilson, Peter Stein, Moni Ovadia, Giorgio Albertazzi.
