In a quirky Dutch-ism, Amsterdam may be the official capital of the Netherlands, but it’s The Hague (Den Haag) where the government sits (along with several international courts, for which the city’s best known). Cosmopolitan and cultured, The Hague is Holland’s third-largest town, with just under 500,000 people. Conveniently, the beach resort of Scheveningen is part of The Hague, and en route lies the family-friendly Madurodam, a fascinating 1/25 miniature display of a fictitious Dutch city.

Arrived with 2 children to find a nice station which was easy to navigate. Staff friendly and helped with directions to our train. Reasonably priced return tickets to Amsterdam.

The Pageshuis is with its stepped gable and red blinds one of the most regognizable buildings on Het Lange Voorhout. It has a rich history and can call itself a National Monument. Let yourself get carried away in the unique history of the Pageshuis from 1625 until now. We organize monthly tours every first Saturday of the month. Please register at the website.
