Most tour groups make one stop at Jiaju village—at the viewing platform, just to take photos with the whole valley. But you’d be missing out if you came all the way to western Sichuan without spending a night in a Tibetan homestay in Jiaju. Stay for at least one night with a Tibetan family, have them cook you dinner and breakfast, and be sure to take a clean room on the top floor. Wake up early to stand on the roof of your homestay and to enjoy one of the most beautiful views you’ll ever see. Talk to your host family and learn about the Gyarong Tibetans of western Sichuan. Five stars for the overnight experience.
