Be embraced by the beauty of this gorgeous wooden Gothic Revival cathedral - still sacred, welcoming to all, in the heart of Wellington's heritage precinct. Breathtakingly beautiful - the capital city's famous Old St Paul's, constructed entirely of native timbers, is one of New Zealand's greatest heritage places. Experience the wonderful and sometimes quirky stories of this former cathedral, its historic location and its people. Gaze at Old St Paul's unique architecture, admire its exquisite embroidered furnishings and be awed by the colours of its beautiful stained glass windows. The site where Old St Paul's stands was formerly part of Pipitea Pā, and for almost 100 years, Old St Paul's served as the parish church of Thorndon and the Anglican Cathedral of Wellington. It remains a place of spiritual significance to many and is a popular venue for a wide variety of cultural events and celebrations.
Old St Paul’s is a wonderful Gothic Revival wooden church built by the Anglican Church and completed in 1866. The inside of the church is breathtaking with its beautiful wooden arches and stained glass windows. This is a beautiful heritage building and amazingly almost was destroyed in 1960 (like many buildings) when the new St Paul’s church was built close by. Well worth the visit.

The Bay of Islands is New Zealand's foremost historic area, birthplace to Maori and Pakeha (European) relations and home of the Kerikeri Mission Station. Established in 1819, the Kerikeri Mission Station is one of New Zealand's first places where Maori invited visitors to to live among them. Built under the protection of local Maori chiefs who were keen to harness the trade and technology of Europe, Kerikeri Mission Station grew amidst a backdrop of tribal warfare and ever increasing visits from foreign ships. Located only 5 minutes from Kerikeri the Kerikeri Mission Station has a range of activites available. The grounds tour is a visitor favourite - experienced guides share stories of fierce warriors and drunken sailors and earnest missionaries who preached, taught and battled to spread the Christian message amongst Maori, a proud people with their own ancient traditions. The Kerikeri Mission Station is also the site of two of the country's oldest surviving buildings- The Stone Store and Kemp House.
Visited Stone Store and Kemp House as part of a cycling trip (C2K) organised by Northland Experiences - tour was wonderful because the guide was very interesting, knowledgeable and enthusiastic - her stories about the lives of women who lived in Kemp House were particularly interesting.

Recommended to us by a friend, I took 3 teenagers here, as we’re on a budget and have pretty much exhausted every other activity option in Auckland. I didn’t have huge expectations - but was very pleasantly surprised. The teenagers all loved it, so did I. A lovely peaceful, stunningly beautiful and very welcoming place to be. The current embroidery exhibition was amazing!! The Cafe we found expensive, but lovely food. I’d happily go back, as would the teenagers. I looked on the internet before we left but couldn’t find information about dress code. I had expected to need to cover up as we did when visiting temples in Bali. Thankfully we arrived prepared - but adding photo of their signage for your benefit. Enjoy.

Part of our walking tour was to visit the old Daily Telegraph newspaper office building, equally stunning on the inside, as this has been restored with original chandelier’s and flooring.
