Hangzhou is the capital of Zhejiang Province and one of the seven ancient capitals of China. It was described by Italian traveler Marco Polo as the finest and most luxurious city in the world. The West Lake scenic area contains over 60 cultural relic sites and several attractions of natural beauty, and a cruise on the lake is a good option to view several sites. Hangzhou is also a good place to visit a tea plantation.

Smaller and less famous than Hangzhou's famous Westlake, Xiang Lake is a gorgeous place to relax without the crowds one typically finds at its more famous neighbor to the north. In addition to peaceful surroundings, Xiang Lake has a water park, ocean world, restaurants, hotels, sightseeing boats, an archeological museum and a gorgeous pottery gallery and studio built on the remnants of a very old and very big kiln.

We visited the Lihue Pagoda - The Pagoda of Six Harmonies and it was the most interesting - visually attractive - of any of the pagodas that we had visited. The Pagoda was very well maintained and appeared to be in perfect shape and very attractive. Although, we didn't climb up to the top for the view, I was more interested in looking at the pagoda than looking at the view from the pagoda. (Plus, we weren't sure that our schedule would allow enough time to make the climb up the inside of the pagoda. Instead, we spent our available time walking the park-like grounds of the pagoda. Set on a hill, in an otherwise urban area, the grounds were perfectly landscaped, and every turn of the path revealed another sight or treasure to examine. It was very enjoyable and definitely recommended to visit.
