The Church of the Holy Innocents was built in 1873, designed by Sir Arthur Blomfield in Victorian Gothic style and is situate in the heart of Epping Forest. It is open every Sunday afternoon between 2.00 and 5.00 pm from the beginning of May to the end of September for visitors to look around and enjoy home-made cake and light refreshments in its tranquil churchyard. Visitors are encouraged to ascend the church tower to learn how to ring the carillon or to sit inside the church and listen to the Father Willis organ being played. On the altar cloth in the left hand chapel you can see the cattle brand marks for the local area depicted on the altar cloth and the carpet leading up to the altar shows the two varient spellings of High Beach/Beech.
Afternoon teas are served at this church every Sunday afternoon from May to the end of September. Holy Innocents is in the middle of Epping Forest, so therefore surrounded by trees. There is outdoor sitting and refreshments may be eaten in the church. Often there are musical afternoons, and concerts are frequent occurrences.

St John the Baptist is a very fine piece of Victorian architecture and probably the main sight in Loughton. It is about 20 minutes walk from Loughton station and on the 20 and 167 bus route.

Ha'penny Pier is a Victorian wooden Pier. It's one of only a few remaining examples of working wooden piers in the UK and is owned and managed by Harwich Haven Authority.
When you stand on the pier you can see the huge container ships that frequent the port of Harwich along with all the yachts and fishing boats that frequent the estuary. There is also a nice eatery there and a small museum

Built in 1898, Colchester Town Hall is a Grade 1 listed building with an ornate facade, superb rooms and a fabulous Italian marble staircase. Set in the heart of historic Colchester the Town Hall has a wealth of Mayoral history and regalia and plays host to civic functions and meetings as well as hosting weddings, celebrations, parties and public events. Visitors are welcome.
The town hall is a culmination of extravagant Victorian, municipal architecture. Built at the very end of the 19c (1898-1902) it is dominated by the tower which is 162 feet in height. The façade includes three pairs of giant columns which makes the whole building become the centrepiece of High Street. Inside, there is a marvellous marble staircase with some good stained glass on the half-landing. We would have liked to see more of the interior but lacked the time to do so.
