We also open English program (Open Mind Camp) because we want more people know about our village and we want to exchange culture with people around the world. We typically host volunteers who want to stay with us. Volunteers’ main task is to teach English classes to children and adults from beginning to intermediate levels. We are looking for people who have experience in diverse careers to bring your life experience and skills to the classroom. Volunteers will each receive a bed, bedding, fan and mosquito net, and share the room with other volunteers.

Just about an hour outside of Chiang Mai, in Hangdong District, is Baan Tawai village, a community known for its wood sculptures. Visitors can take a look around at markets and interact with wood carvers. Crafts are available for purchase.
There are a number of different shopping areas in Baan Tawai which my wife and I have been going to since 2003. It's a huge shopping complex all under canopy. The totally unique wood carvings and basketry shops are plentiful and there are excellent bargains to take advantage of. If you see something you like then buy it the same day you find it. Often the one of a kind items will never appear again. Many of the shops at the Night Bazaar in Chiang Mai come to Baan Tawai to purchase goods for retail. So it's basically a wholesale outet on a very grand scale. Here in Baan Tawai you will find very well crafted and reasonable silver shops and stores that sell absolutely beautifully artistic paintings and sculpture. Do you need hand made floral displays of all kinds? From the smallest items such as finely designed key chains to a large sided backyard gazebo, we have purchase in Baan Tawai, mostly in the Nr. 4 shopping area. Teak rocking chairs to well designed antiqued ceramic jars we've also purchased here. One of a kind designer lamps of all types are also sold here at bargain prices. This is a place you come to and expect to stay all day. There is a good restaurant on the 2nd floor in shopping area #4. In this expanded market complex you'll find shippers who will send your purchases to your home country by air or ship. They also do all the packing. The larger complex is probably on many acres, perhaps as much as 200 acres.
