Only Vegetarian Cafe in Thames, Gateway to the Coromandel. We are located on Pollen Street, Grahamstown, northern end of Thames. Also offering Vegan, Gluten Free and Dairy free options.
We called in for a cuppa and a piece of slice. They had a good range of teas and everything was great. We were surprised to find that they closed up quite early (4pm) when it was holiday season and there were a lot of people around who were wanting to buy coffees etc.

Thames is on the Coromandel Peninsula
Fresh & fabulous. A little gem tucked away in Thames ? A simple menu which covers all you need & many tasty options. Try the seafood curry - in amongst all the yummy bits are scallops, prawns & fresh fish. Can't beat it anywhere.

Stopped after walking to the Waiomu Kauri Grove. Good place for a drink, a bite to eat and just unwind. Good food and drinks, friendly service.

The place to stop along the way from Auckland to the Coromandel for refreshment, cakes, coffee, and a relaxing break.
We popped in here for a coffee and a snack. The setting was nice, and we sat outside and enjoyed the sun. The service was good, as was the coffee and food.

Discovered this place a year or so ago, have stopped in for coffee or lunch three times since. Loads of parking (even for caravans), dog and child friendly. Ideal location midway between Auckland and BoP/Taupo. Extensive menu, good coffee. Very popular with travellers and tourists, mix of indoor and covered outdoor Seating. Good quality souvenirs/local produce and preserves available, nicely set out in what was once the bedrooms of this converted villa. Biggest downside are the little flies, especially outside. Appreciate this the Waikato countryside but they need to look into IR zappers or the like. Also note; listed as Thames but it's actually at Mangarata, some 22 km from Thames on State Highway 2 near the junction with State Highway 27.

Loved buying very fresh fish next door which was delivered to the cafe. Able to enjoy a beer outside overlooking the river. Clean and staff friendly

Main street Thames and particularly attracted by Gluten free offerings. Lots to select from. Thought their sandwiches looked a little over complicated but very friendly and everything we had was good. Lots of people in so obviously we'll liked.

We stopped by for an all day breakfast on our way through Thames and were pleased to find the staff at this cafe friendly and efficient. Muesli and fruit was good, though the menu promised blueberries and strawberries were substituted. Not a prob, but would have liked to be told something like that when ordering. They have a sweet outdoor courtyard with mature trees posing as sun umbrellas. Food was good. Didn’t try the coffee

Ten family members recently got together from Australia, Hawkes Bay, Auckland and Thames to celebrate our mother's birthday. We all enjoyed our meals - no complaints there. We had had a café staff member make and ice a birthday cake, so asked a waitress to bring it out instead of dessert. The waitress had been instructed to ask whether we wanted plates to serve the cake on or just serviettes - to which we replied :plates please". "That will be $1 per plate"!! We were all flabbergasted to say the least - my father-in-law paid the bill of around $500 (including the cake), and they charged us $10 so that we could each eat the cake from a plate!!! Very, very petty and I felt worthy of comment here. Not a very hospitable thing to do - especially as my mother and father-in law are regular diners at The Melbourne Café. As the owner and operator of a hospitality business myself, I would suggest to The Melbourne Owner to be a little more generous and think about the impact of such pettiness in future. For $10 you could have saved yourself this review.
