Dining hall with four globally inspired open kitchens including Italian, Asian, pastries, and raw bar.
A group of 8 of us werenât in town for a bachelorette party and the hospitality that the restaurant provided exceeded our expectations! When we first sat down, we received complementary champagne, appetizers, not to mention impeccable service from our waiter, Bryan! He made our night so wonderful. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the Austin, Texas area

May explain why it was part of a coupon program and also why it was empty. Perhaps it is new.
Mai Thai is located downtown amidst many hotels and upscale restaurants though its immediate restaurant neighbors are casual ethnic restaurants. Needed a break after several southwestern meals. Rather large thai menu with many appetizers, soups, and entrees. Tried soups and a few entrees and found them delicious. Would dine here again, even though the service was slow (but still friendly). Inexpensive.

When we arrived, they were serving breakfast, but by the time we were seated, the menu had changed to lunch. Some of our party were challenged to find things they could eat, and even the adventurous eaters said their entrees were too spicy. Food was good but the wait and service could be improved.

On Friday evening,Jume 7 my wife Bonnie suggested we dine at the Russian House which would be a first try for us. The overall results were promising. To its credit, and unlike other new restaurants, Russian House did not spend a fortune on decorations but focused on the kitchen. Upon being seated a charming and efficient waitress served us a complementry shot of vodka and a portion of cabbage salad. The latter was excellent. We then ordered an eggplant apetizer and blinis with salmon roe. The eggplant t was excellent but unfortunately the bilinis were a distastor; cold, doughy and with only a smidgen of Roe. For an entree Bonnie had an excellent beef stroganoff and I had a hardy Ukraian soup. The broth was tasty but the noodles were over cooked. The one thing I looked forward to was drinking cold vodka. The vokka was excellent and cold BUT it was served in one ounce shot glasses. Russian House has got to buy some 2 ounce glasses and keep them in the freezer. However a bottle of Russian lager beer was excellent. Our advice to Russian House is to reduce the number of items on the very large menu. . It is best to focus on a few of good quality such as the egg plant apitizer and the cabbage salad.Russian House is worth a try. For now stick to the eggplant, stroganoff and Russian beer and you wouldn't be disapointed.

Sway is an award-winning modern Thai restaurant with two Austin locations, and a third opening Fall 2018.
The restaurant is tucked away with little signage, so we passed it twice before making it to the parking lot. The atmosphere was swanky and cool, but required communal seating which is not what we expected. We ordered a few Asian standardsâPad Thai and Shiumei, both of which were pretty disappointing. While both were reminiscent of the standards, they did not taste the same. We also ordered the Jungle Curry which was a house specialty, it was very, very spicy, but also quite tasty. Ultimately it was pretty good food, in an interesting setting but if youâre expecting standard Asian flavors, you wonât find it here.

All of their seafood is sustainable, which is amazing. Also, very delicious No parking lot so you'll have to find street parking but that's Congress Ave for ya. Really great service. We did one of the sake flights and all the options chosen by the somalier were spot on. Definitely recommend!

Uchi was firmly on my dinner wishlist for our Texas trip so we made advance reservations for Halloween. It's being described as modern, non-traditional Japanese though to me it seemed like Japanese fusion cookery with broader Asian and Western influences.Despite this being one of the swankier places the feel is casual. Staff were dressed up in hilarious Halloween costumes and customers, a young crowd in the main, were pretty casual, too.Decor is pretty minimalist though there is some floral wallpaper and it is rather dark. They were handing out free sushi canapes while we were waiting to be seated. The menu (s) is a bit overwhelming to begin with. Lots of choices, lots of unfamiliar ingredients. There was a huge separate vegetarian menu. Fortunately, the server was very knowledgeable and helpful. We had booked a 5 pm booking, which was eligible for the (sake social) happy hour dishes. We also got two complementary dishes - a type of mushroom ceviche and some yellowtail sashimi with chilli and orange.Food was good. The standout dishes for me were the deliciously meaty oak grilled escolar with candied citrus and the grilled romaine handroll with boquerones. Some of the dishes relied too much on rich sauces I thought: the yucca chips came with a heavy bbq style sauce, the prawn tempura came with a mayo mix, which is ok but tasted somewhat unrefined. More delicate flavours would have wowed me more.My cocktail with yuzu and sake was reminiscent of punch but a very tasty one. Dessert super tasty. We tried the honey toast with brioche, cashew praline and honey ice cream as well as the banana okashi with chocolate ganache and passionfruit-filled chocolate globe.Overall a lovely experience. Not the best food I have ever eaten but still a memorable dinner. I'm toying with the idea of heading to Uchiko, the sister restaurant, to give that a try.Free valet parking at the restaurant.
