I had lunch with a friend at the River House in Gruene. The menu had many items that sounded delicious - My friend ordered the penne pasta with shrimp and thoroughly enjoyed her meal. I ordered two appetizers- the deviled eggs with bacon jam and the Fried green tomatoes. The eggs were good but the fried green tomatoes were outstanding! The presentation was lovely with the pickled onion adding color as well as taste. The sauce paired beautifully with the tomatoes- this is something I will order again!

We needed a spot in New Braunfels for lunch with family...This was an awesome choice! The food was outstanding, the staff friendly and very accommodating. It is off the beaten path, but well worth the search. Very casual and has the option of outdoor seating.

This is "Big" Henry, back again with another Review and 100% Authentic & Honest take on our meal:You know my wife by now, always wanting to try different spots.We passed this spot the day before and because it served Chinese food, we'd thought we give it a try.Pho NB on 1050 hwy 35 north #100, New Braunfels, TX 78130 @ (830) 484-8889"Big" Henry's Rating System: As you already recognize, I apply a rating system in (#) from 1 (worst) to 10 (best).Now onto the Review:Won Ton Soup (4): Had a funny taste and smell, tasted differently than most I have tried. I didn't finish it, so what does that tell you?Egg Drop Soup (6.5): Was above par, not the greatest, but editable. It was thick and tasty.Lemon Chicken (5): The chicken was tender, but cannot stand the breading.Fried Rice (3): It looked like Spanish rice, was below any Chinese standard.Beef (8) & Broccoli & Carrots & Brown Sauce (3): The beef was very tender, however the rest of the dish was below par. The vegetables were hard and the gravy did not taste well.Egg Roll (7.5): were fresh, crispy, and tasted better with dipping sauce. A1 Gôi CuôŠaka soft Spring Rolls (9): tasted fresh and love that peanut butter flavored dipping sauce.ST2 Sauteed Rice Noodles w/Assorted Meats (9): I shared this with my wife and girls, and we all loved this. I was going to try the P1 Pho Dac Biet (Rice Noodle Soup and Assortment of Beef), but I passed and very glad I did.Soda (10): It is Canned!Atmosphere (7): Was not very large, plenty of tables, seemed cold vs. warm.Overall: I would go back for specifically what I did like... We went after church, and the place was packed. Luckily we found a table right off. My Bride had a baked potato and I had the salad bar. Sonbun had a kid's pizza. The salad bar didn't have an incredible array of choices, pretty average. I will say the jalapeño ranch was pretty tasty. Despite the incredible number of people, our food was delivered very quickly, and the salad bar ingredients were very fresh. We did feel very cramped and rushed due to the number of people, hence the 3 stars. We will avoid it on Sundays after church from now on.

Was on the hunt for a great ham and found one here. I had lunch and could not have been a better time. Great food, excellant service. I will pick up my sister from the airport in Austin and will be over for some ham to go for the visit.Thanks for the great service,see you Friday!!
