Home style cooking, bakery that offers homemade pies and ding dongs, and cheesecake factory cakes, voted best steaks in Calhoun county 2 years in row, hungry yet!
I was expecting so much more from the reviews I had read. The place looked sad when we walked in about 6:30 on a Saturday night very dated and shabby. Lots of random decor and odd colors. My husband ordered wings and the salad bar. The wings were just ok and the salad bar was small and several items were empty. ($11.00 for the salad bar)I ordered the ânewâ grilled salmon salad expecting a nice fresh piece of salmon. What I got was a gray piece of tastelessness fish. It was in no way fresh or grilled as expected. The salad was all lettuce with two small pieces of tomato and a few cucumbers. The lettuce was fresh at least. I also ordered a side of veggies with extra butter. The vegetables were from frozen and the âbutterâ was a pod of whipped vegetable oil, yuck! Service was good and the waitress were friendly. Add one beer to the tab and total was $40. Not worth the price for marginal food.Thank you for the review. We are sorry to hear that you had a less than stellar experience. We want to work hard for our guests to ensure that they have the best possible experience, each and every time they choose us. We hope you will allow us an opportunity to better serve you again.

Stopped by this place en route to Rockport. It self identifies as a sports bar. The interior is a bit tired. Restaurant wasn't very full at lunch on Sunday. They had quite a few servers who were busy, but it still took a little long to order. The menu is quite long with many interesting options. I decided on the Caesar salad for a light lunch. The Romaine lettuce and salad dressing were very good. There was just short of a bag of croutons on the dish which was odd. I was satisfied overall.

Near the coast with a name Bayside Seafood Restaurant, we expected fresh, good seafood. Apparently this was a Chinese restaurant prior, decor, etc. but we decided to try it. I was happy to see grilled options, I ordered stuffed flounder and grilled shrimp. It was extremely dry and tasted like it had been frozen for some time and quickly thawed. My husband ordered red fish and shrimp, grilled, Again, dry and old tasting. Service was barley average and the prices were above average. Will NOT visit again.

This place has a great location right on Lavaca Bay. There have been several restaurants here, and Scully's is the latest attempt. The challenge with most sports bars is that it's difficult to be both a bar and a restaurant. You either attract the bar crowd or the dining crowd. It's obvious that Scully's leans toward the bar crowd. We dropped in for lunch. The menu was heavily weighted with fried food, although there were a few grilled offerings, burgers, and salads. There was no dinner menu. Although it was not crowded (at noon on Saturday),it took too long to get our waiter's attention to take our order. The food came pretty promptly. I really liked the grilled shrimp tacos and opted for fried onion petals instead of seasoned fries. My wife wasn't as crazy about her fried shrimp, but I thought it was OK. (Living on the gulf coast, we've been spoiled by some great seafood). Again, we had to flag down our waiter to get the bill. My overall impression is that there's simply a lack of attention to detail. My theory is that an eating establishment, especially one in a small town, needs to have the owner or a very good manager present at all times. I saw neither at Scully's. By comparison, a quick trip downtown to Texas Traditions will always result in excellent service, great food, and a friendly conversation with the owner. My understanding is that Scully's is a happening bar scene after dark. It must be because they have two bars and lots of seating inside, upstairs, and out on the deck. Would I recommend it? Sure, but remember, it's primarily a bar. Will I be back? Sure. I can envision enjoying a burger outside on the deck on a sunny calm day.
We plugged the address into our GPS, but could not find the place. There was a sign on the ground, but no life forms. Don't know if we just missed it, or it's closed
