It seems a lot of restaurants in Texas are closed on Sunday - understandable - but we were glad that El Palenque was open until 2:00. This is a wonderful family run Mexican restaurant with delicious food cooked to order and served with a smile. It was very busy when we arrived about 1:00 but our food arrived very quickly non the less. There is a wide range of dishes including some you don't often see on typical Mexican menus like paralida which looked great for a large group. Don't miss this spot if you are in Del Rio, Texas.

Good portion sizes but food was nothing special. You come in and order at the cashier stand and leave a tip before you even receive any service. I donât believe you should tip here since you will not see any kind of service after ordering except for someone bringing your food to you. The portion sizes were good but you can get MUCH better Mexican food at many other restaurants in Del Rio. Refried beans were good. Thatâs about it.
Wonderful Mexican food. Magnificent food! Perfectly prepared, graciously served. I was greeted at the door and chose a seat at the counter. Ordered breakfast that was everything I had been looking for in a meal. Small, friendly place. Only open for breakfast and lunch. Cash only. Parking is a challenge. Important not to park in the spots that are marked for other businesses. Worth parking a short distance away to get to great food!
