Rudy's "Country Store" and Bar-B-Q serves Real Texas Bar-B-Q seven days a week. They offer breakfast, lunch, dinner and group meals.
There seems to be a cult following for Rudyâs. Being from out-of-town, I chose to give it a try. We ended up going twice. So warning.. everything is ala crate and you need to serve yourself. There are also signs that remind you that your mom is not there and you should pick up after yourself! (No, really). I wanted to tell that that I did not already pay my mom for lunch, but, well... I asked for 1/2 pound of brisket and got (and charged for) 3/4 of a pound. You want potato salad. Get it yourself (and pay $2.49 for a single serving). You want simmering baked beans. Tough luck, get it out of the fridge yourself. I chose banana pudding and it was simply awful. The meat was fine but you have to sauce it yourself. Want some Texas toast?? Warm rolls? Nope! You get a couple slices of cold Wonder bread. Almost $25 for a self-serve lunch. I think I will pass next time.

I'm never unsatisfied when I visit this restaurant. Aside the great customer service, the food is amazing! I'm hooked on the fried fish and mac and cheese, but I make it an effort to try at least 1 different item everytime I go. The downside is that, it's packed during lunchtime. So, ya best bet is to either get there early or call in.
