Took an extended weekend trip to Port Aransas to unwind on the beach. Wanted to patronize the local businesses still recovering from Hurricane Harvey in 2017. This one came recommended by the local "things to do" book. No fancy stuff here, just great food, reasonable prices, with a number of seafood dishes and the baby back ribs dumped on a craft paper covered table. Some dishes that include shrimp, crab, crawfish will "get your hands dirty."

Service was good, however, a bit pricey. Location was on a marina, but really no view of anything except boats. Had crab cake sliders which were pretty good, but somewhat bland. Husband had shrimp po boy and also thought didn't have much flavor. Really sick that night and don't know if that was coincidental or not.

We wanted to have a few drinks and a bite, but there were two of us being joined by three more. Well, they would not let us put tables together to sit as a group! And the bar area was almost empty! NOT an issue of available tables... We were also trying to be courteous not taking up a large table for a few drinks and bites. We did fudge it in our seating and order some snacks, which were very tasty.Food good.Management bad.

We had been to Rooseveltâs before Harvey so we expected a great dining experience. I had chicken breast stuffed with crab and shrimp and it was wonderful. Our waitress was Melinda aka MelIShe did everything perfectly. I highly recommend both. Itâs a 2 hr drive for us but we are already wondering when can we go again

This restaurant was recommended by an acquaintance and we were excited to try it out. Got there at opening, as suggested, and were seated immediately. Service was very good, wishing I could say the same for the food. Started with the crab, shrimp mango ceviche which was nice and light. Plenty of seafood inside and the homemade chips were a nice touch. Wife ordered the gluten free rice pasta with shrimp. The dish came without any shrimp so we sent it back only for it to return with a bowl of steamed shrimp next to it, which had no flavor as they werenât cooked in the pasta. The right thing to do would be remake the dish with the shrimp in it, or at bare minimum mix the shrimp into the dish instead of sending out a bowl of shrimp. Didnât resemble the description as it didnât have sprouts and the sauce was primarily tomato sauce and sriracha.I ordered the rare tuna taco and the fish was cooked perfectly. However the tuna taste gets lost in the tortilla and fixings. On the second taco I just ate the filling and it was much better. The place filled up quickly and by the time we left had people waiting to get in. We felt like we were maybe we were there on an off day?? There are a number of other dishes that looked good so we may give it another try.

The last beach shack in Port Aransas on top of the wave.
Weekend fishing trip to Port A and just had to stop at our favorite seafood restaurant. As usual everything was fantastic. Those folks really know how to prepare seafood. We each had flounder and it was great. The only mar is that this restaurant does accept credit cards, however they do have an ATM in the building in case you need some extra cash.

Took an extended weekend trip to Port Aransas to unwind on the beach. Wanted to patronize the local businesses still recovering from Hurricane Harvey in 2017. This one came recommended by the local "things to do" book. Fantastic food, all reasonably priced. Wide selection of top shelf tequila, including the high quality Reposado grade. Also offers fresh catch seafood at market prices. Fresh made-at-table guacamole was delicious.

I would think if you want a special evening, a splurge, or celebration dinner, there can be no better restaurant in Port A than Venetian Hot Plate. Authentic delicious gourmet Italian food and wine in an unassuming location in Port Aransas, TX. Lovely ambiance, upscale, warm friendly service..not inexpensive, but worth it. This was our first trip to PortA, so little to compare withEach in our party had something different from seafood to filet mignon to pasta...all were excellent. Desserts also wonderful. Will definitely return if in the area. Be aware there is a 3% surcharge for using credit card, cash preferred. Reservations recommended.
