Fantastic neighborhood restaurant in Austin, booked a table for three, great service very clean and popular. We ordered a watermelon margarita and an Irish mule cocktail, followed by appetizers of skewered brussel sprouts, green salad, gazpacho with a crab topping. The sword fish dish was amazing and scallops that were tender and cooked to perfection. For dessert we selected a slice of layer cake and ice cream with assorted crunches, followed by Cappuccino al la Austin. Lots of street parking nearby, and in the cooler months great outside dining on the patio. TIP: You must call for a reservation it gets really busy.

We invite you to escape to Truluck's. A getaway for the senses. Come savor the freshest Crab, direct from our own fisheries. Delight in our fresh-catch seafood menu or select tender, juicy steaks prepared to perfection. Then complement it all with delicio
My husband and I went to Trulucks on a Thursday evening. For an appetizer, we had calamari ($18). That was awesome. Next, we had a very tasty Sonoma greens salad ($10 each). We ordered filet steak ($40 each) with mashed potatoes ($7 for 2 people) and asparagus ($9 for 2 people). The steak was cooked perfect and tasted fantastic. The potatoes and asparagus were good. For desert, we shared delicious slice of chocolate cake and carrot cake. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and the wait staff was very attentive. This is a perfect restaurant to celebrate a special occasion.

We are proud to announce... Chef Tyson Cole, winner of the 2011 James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef Southwest--Thank you Uchi and Uchiko family and friends for your support! --------------------------------------------------------------------------
We were fortunate to be able to make an advanced reservation for dinner during graduation weekend. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. The kitchen was cognizant of our dietary restrictions. We were able to order some items from the Happy Hour menu which provided great value. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Every now and then you find a place to eat that is truly special, where the food is great, the staff cares about you, a local funky joint with that true Austin neighborhood feel. Where you can bring the kids or or come out for date night with that special
This is our neighborhood restaurant. We use their rewards plan and get free food. Seafood gumbo is great, trout, shrimp in any dish, salads with chicken on top, a good chicken fried steak, all yum.. We avoid Thursday night zydeco music night because we want to talk to our friends. We have tried bread pudding all over and this is the best. They have a neat indoor/outdoor seating area. Rotating art exhibits are always interesting.

Uchi was firmly on my dinner wishlist for our Texas trip so we made advance reservations for Halloween. It's being described as modern, non-traditional Japanese though to me it seemed like Japanese fusion cookery with broader Asian and Western influences.Despite this being one of the swankier places the feel is casual. Staff were dressed up in hilarious Halloween costumes and customers, a young crowd in the main, were pretty casual, too.Decor is pretty minimalist though there is some floral wallpaper and it is rather dark. They were handing out free sushi canapes while we were waiting to be seated. The menu (s) is a bit overwhelming to begin with. Lots of choices, lots of unfamiliar ingredients. There was a huge separate vegetarian menu. Fortunately, the server was very knowledgeable and helpful. We had booked a 5 pm booking, which was eligible for the (sake social) happy hour dishes. We also got two complementary dishes - a type of mushroom ceviche and some yellowtail sashimi with chilli and orange.Food was good. The standout dishes for me were the deliciously meaty oak grilled escolar with candied citrus and the grilled romaine handroll with boquerones. Some of the dishes relied too much on rich sauces I thought: the yucca chips came with a heavy bbq style sauce, the prawn tempura came with a mayo mix, which is ok but tasted somewhat unrefined. More delicate flavours would have wowed me more.My cocktail with yuzu and sake was reminiscent of punch but a very tasty one. Dessert super tasty. We tried the honey toast with brioche, cashew praline and honey ice cream as well as the banana okashi with chocolate ganache and passionfruit-filled chocolate globe.Overall a lovely experience. Not the best food I have ever eaten but still a memorable dinner. I'm toying with the idea of heading to Uchiko, the sister restaurant, to give that a try.Free valet parking at the restaurant.

Tonight our family of 4 enjoyed a wonderful experience at Eddie Vâs and it all starts at the top with Twan. He was the Manager on duty this evening and was solely responsible for getting this evening started on the right foot! This was my first time dining at this restaurant but we were in town to celebrate our 29 year old sonâs birthday and it could not have been a better evening! Not only were all the food selections excellent but Jeffâs wine selections were exceptional as well! In addition to Jeff, Simon our waiter for the evening was the perfect mixture of humor and professionalism and definitely worth requesting on your next trip here. Our food selections for the evening were all spot on starting with the Calamari, Lobster Tacos, and Shrimp Cocktail. Next we had the Twin Filets Oscar Style as well as the Tuna and the Chicken...all were excellent but the stars of the show were the Crab Fried Rice and the Lobster Mashed Potatoes! And for the grand finally the Bananas Foster dessert is a must! If you want to enjoy a special celebration or just a wonderful dining experience in Austin you canât do better than Eddie Vâs!

This was a great dinner choice. We were seated upstairs and our wait staff was awesome. We had a large party (12) but everything was accurate and timely. Don't miss the crabs - either as an appetizer or main course.
