Took family meal to the house for company Easter weekend. Beans were bland, rest of meal was great. Asked for order to be ready at 6 (prepaid). Had to wait for them to completely assemble order at 6:10. All teens staffing store, just no urgency to stay on top of things. Food quality, other than beans, was up to normal standards. Still a great value.

This place is a hill of its former self. The servings are smaller, the menu is smaller, the ingredients arenât as fresh as they used to be. This place is basically a bar that serves appetizers. Their ranch even sucks sometimes which is really depressing. Their entire kitchen staff is illegal aliens as well. Sad. This place used to be so awesome

A restaurant icon in Stephenville for over twenty-five years. Owned and operated by The Stephens family, VW Cynthia and V. We pride ourselves on quality food and service. Handbreaded Chicken Fried Steak. Hand cut prime steaks. Momâs Homemade Lasagna. New
I came there with a friend yesterday. It was 2:00 on a Saturday afternoon and they were not busy at all. We saw 4 other people in the restaurant and 2 of them were getting ready to leave. Despite that, we received the worst service! After seating ourselves, we waited about 15 minutes for a menu. Across the booth from us There was a woman talking to a couple of other customers. We weren't sure if she was waitstaff or not, so we just sat there for a while as I looked around to see if there was anybody else working in the restaurant. As we were about to leave, the woman comes over to us and says "oh, I didn't see you come in!" This was complete bull. My friend is in a motorized scooter, and we were about 3' from this woman. There was no way that she didn't possibly see us. After acknowledging us and wiping the very sticky table we were sitting (we asked her to) she went to the back to and a few minutes later, another person came out to deliver us menus and take our drink orders. We ordered a couple of the half price appetizers, the fried mushrooms and pickles, and the layer dip. The only saving grace about this place is that the food was delicious. The gentleman who ended up taking our orders and delivering the food was OK. But then he disappeared halfway through our visit. Another woman came out and said she was taking over the table. Despite having encountered 3 different people coming to our table, the plates were not cleared in a timely manner, water was not refilled, and when we decided to order a dessert, it took about 10 minutes to find somebody to come by and take our dessert order. By the time we finished our meal, we were the only 2 people in the restaurant! I don't really understand how the service could have been this bad When the restaurant was not busy at all. I almost felt like we were imposing on them. It's a shame, because the food was delicious. But with this kind of service, I will not return.I came there with a friend yesterday. I was the person that did not see you come in. Unfortunately, it is the truth and I do apologize. We do strive for excellent customer service and I am sorry that you did not receive that. Hopefully, you will try us again. I apologize for not seeing you arrive and for the service from all the staff that came by your table. Thanks

We stopped by here after leaving the hotel to get a late lunch - had breakfast. I had scrambled eggs with sausage patties and grits. Substituted a biscuit for the toast and had a side of gravy. My wife had a cheese omelet with grits and biscuit/gravy. We shared a pecan waffle. The food was good and the service was great. Typical âget anywhereâ breakfast though. The eggs were cooked just a little too long. Okay, but a bit dry and a little browned in spots. The biscuits were âokayâ but werenât the fresh, hot, fluffy ones you would expect from a little family owned restaurant like this. Gravy was decent but tasted like what you would make out of a package. No sausage or flavoring to it. The grits tasted like instant grits. The waffle ... well, it had the texture of pancakes (not what you want in a waffle!). Really, the food was âokayâ and I would go back again, but I expected so much more from a third generation family owned restaurant.

Cotton Patch Cafe is a Texas-inspired, home-style restaurant serving Southern classics. Famous for its Chicken Fried Steak, Crispy Fried Catfish and other specials like the King Ranch Chicken Casserole, and homemade Chicken and Dumplings. Don't forget abo
This gets a 5 STAR rating for their appetizer CHICKEN FRIED BACON!But the service was soooooo bad, it drops the 5 STAR to a 1 STAR! What a circus! We ordered the chicken fried bacon appetizer about 5 minutes before we finalized our lunch meal order with Kassi S.Entrees were served, but NO appetizer and NO mention that they had NO chicken fried bacon available, so we asked, where is our appetizer? So Kassi S. ask us did we still want the appetizer - DUH - we asked about it didn't we? Then she takes away our entrees and bring us our appetizer, claiming some confusion in the kitchen. One bite of the appetizer and here comes our entrees! UGH! Normally our Cotton Patch dining experience is much, much better than what we experienced here in Stephenville.Kassi said the manager was going to comp the appetizer for the mix-up. STILL waiting for that bill adjustment... I had the TEX-MEX salad with "homemade avocado ranch dressing". No regular ranch dressing available. Avocado ranch dressing was ok, but I had to request more since there was only a tiny cup of it served on the side. It seems like they were rationing the salad dressing!

Had real Texas Chicken Fried Steak. Lightly breaded and huge, just the way it should be. Most restaurant hide the meat in the middle of breading. Large waffle fries. Chicken Livers and Baked Potato. Of course there is cream gravy to cover it all if you want. Don't forget the Sweet Tea. Lastly, the price was very low considering we could not eat it all and took a container still full of meat.

We stopped here purely by chance on a road trip around Texas in March. Great food and excellent service. The restaurant is in a character building in a charming old-town American square - which has recently been restored and renewed. Definitely worth a detour for lunch or dinner if you're in the area. Stephenville is a great little town and Greer's is amongst the best places we ate at during our tour.

Grumps is a family-friendly burger joint that serves a Classic Texas Burger with fresh hand cut, never frozen meat, fresh produce, & good times!
Burger cooked exactly how we requested, and we are pretty picky. They have Dublin bottling works soft drinks, which are great, but do provide a fall back if you prefer. We found the sweet potato fries delicious, the atmosphere fun and laid back, and a good sense of fun in the air!

Real Texas BBQ from a legendary source. Worth a special trip just to eat. Ribs, Beef, Sausage, Chicken, all smoked and comes with optional BBQ sauce (but don't really need it). Easy to find right on the crossroads of two highways.

Big "O" is Oliver, a lively British owner who engages you when you order. Great suggestions. We loved the Pastrami sandwich. So fresh and tasty. Lunch deal even includes chips and a great cookie. We were just traveling through town, took Trip Advisor's reviews and went with it. Glad we did! Great place for lunch. Enjoy!
