Very nice casual restaurant in the historic Beckham Hotel in Mineola. Great service staff. Great selection of craft beers and modestly priced wines. Had the Blue Buffalo burger with sweet potato fries and a chipotle mayo dipping sauce. The True Vine Smith County Lager from Tyler, TX was the perfect compliment. The burger had just enough buffalo sauce to be flavorful but not overpowering or messy. Lots of real bleu cheese (yum) and cooked perfectly to my desired med rare. Sweet potato fries were excellent as was the chipotle dipping sauce - just enough of a kick. Beer from True Vine stood up great to all that flavor. Not too hoppy but full bodied. Going back for dinner with the fam to try the salmon and the steak.

You can buy it by the slice, but it will just make you want you buy a whole cake! Located in the back of a clothing store, they keep about 12 different cheesecakes available for sale by the slice. My favorite - the 24 Carrot Cheesecake. But you can't lose. The service is usually friendly & very helpful. Enjoy!!!

We went into La Waffalata and were able to order either from the Waffalata menu or from the semi-connected Hamburger Store. We decided to try the Waffalata lunch. My wife got a chicken fajita roll up which she liked. I opted for a half sandwich (good) and tortilla soup (not good - straight out of a can, and not even a good-grade canned soup). Fresh fruit was also served on the sandwich plate. La Waffalata was a very popular spot for lunch on the day before July 4th, and we had to ask twice for a fork; we finally got some napkins (actually paper towels) just before we finished. Next time we are going to have hamburgers next door (they looked delicious!)

Mack's Split Rail Pit Bar-B-Q

This is probably my favorite restaurant in Mineola. They serve brisket, turkey, sausage, hot links and catfish and a variety of creative dishes. The quality here is very consistent and you will always get some great BBQ.Brisket has a great smokey flavor, is very moist and has a nice bark on it. The sausage is my favorite though. Of the many, many BBQ places I have tried, Mack's Split Rail has the BEST sausage. Very juicy and flavorful and melts in your mouth. Try the meat fries (and plan to share!)- golden, delicious fries covered in melted cheddar cheese and topped with piles of chopped brisket (or any meat you desire). I prefer w/o bbq sauce. Their meat speaks for itself. Onions and jalapenos are available as well. You can also get the same thing on a baked potato. Equally as good, but probably not as much to share. Plate portions and sandwich portions are big. I usually take half mine home. They have catfish platters, taco salads, frito pie and are now serving brisket tacos for $2 each.As far as side dishes go, they have the usual fare...potato salad, cole slaw, bbq beans and pinto beans, fries and baked potatoes. Everything is delicious and the quality is consistent. The staff are friendly and have been working there forever. The atmosphere is nice with a country decor and down home feel. The prices are reasonable. $8-$10 for a meat plate with 2 sides (or substitute a baked potato for the 2 sides). Sandwich plates are around $7. Years ago, they were on Texas Monthly's Top 50 BBQ joints in Texas. I have been to plenty of the places on the Top 50 list and Mack's holds it's own against all of them. I think my only complaint is, they are closed on Sunday and Monday.

Southern Fried

Relaxed environment with delicious southern comfort style food. Known for our "Award Winning Fried Green Tomatoes and Chicken Fried Steak" The Best Place in town to eat!!!

You might want to call in your order - or plan to wait 45 minutes to an hour for your food to get to the table. Once the food arrives...the fried sides are fantastic! Large size “southern fried steak” is ridiculously huge; could easily satisfy 4 people. Order the “small” and share it with a friend. Chess pie = yum! Minuses: Fried baloney sandwich was a fun idea but was not as fun to eat; too thick. “French Dip” was nothing of the sort; it is beef tips on a roll with gravy, and no dipping juice ☹️Good food, but will probably try somewhere else next time we are in Mineola.

March 22, 2019Husband and I ate lunch and dinner here today. Hubby had a grilled chicken wrap, which he liked. I had a hot dog with chili and sauerkraut. It was really good. Restaurant not crowded but service was a bit slow.Since it was steak night, we decided to go back for dinner. There were three tables occupied. Did not get waited on for several minutes. Finally ordered. Food took a long time. In the meantime, many local people began arriving. Our service got even worse. Ribeye steak, ordered rare to medium rare was not. Taste was not worth $23. When finished, we waited a looong time for our waitress to come to the table. A table of 8 locals had come in and both waitresses were waiting on them. When our waitress came back, we ordered dessert and one coffee. Fifteen minutes later a young man brought dessert and no eating utensils. Hubby asked about my coffee that had not been brought. He got spoons but still no coffee. Half-way through dessert, coffee arrived.Next was the wait to pay.I certainly understand the need to give excellent service to the locals, but this was REALLY BAD SERVICE. How did they know we were not new residents?Lunch was good. Avoid dinner. Avoid restaurant unless you like slooow service and lack of service.
