We found the Catfish King while looking for lunch off highway 69. The restaurant is clean and neat and appears quite popular with the local folks. They have an interesting menu of seafood, chicken, steaks, and sandwiches but as expected mostly catfish dishes. My wife opted for the seniors catfish dinner which she enjoyed and I had the po-boy sandwich which was very good but huge. They have a small but good salad bar. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Recommended.

Went here for lunch recently. We both had sliced beef and truly enjoyed it. The sliced beef is perfect. We enjoyed the beans and potato salad. You definetly have to try the yeast rolls! There is nothing else like them. \Service was good and the food was great. No complaints here. This is a tradition for Lufkin! It is just good honest folks serving great food. If you want good barbecue you should go to Stringer's Lufkin Bar-B-Q!

IHOP is always busy and has great prices on their food. Breakfast is good any time you go. The food is cooked when you order and the new decor is beautiful.

The Hole in One Restaurant is located in the center of a number of hotels on the south loop. It was highly recommended by local residents as the best restaurant in town. As others have said, the restaurant is fairly small, with about 5 4-person tables and five tall tables, all with classy white tablecloths and nice place settings. It looks fancy, but the atmosphere is relaxed. I tried the Chicken Marsala, and while the serving was extremely generous, I thought the meal rather bland. Later had three people ask how I liked the great steaks.... When I return I will definitely have a steak. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Fairly expensive. I had the crab cakes as an appetizer and with my entree, the bill totaled nearly $35. I rated my dining experience 3 stars, but sure it would be higher if I'd ordered a steak. Open for breakfast M-Sat 7-10am; Dinner 5-10pm - Sun breakfast 7-10am.

A friend of mine and I set out on a quest to find this establishment on recommendation of friends. I knew it existed but did not know they served lunch! We both had selections from the Italian section of the menu and boy were we pleasantly surprised at the quality and quantity of the food! We ordered eggplant parmigiana and lasagna and had enough for leftovers that evening! They even gave me a complimentary slice of cheesecake since we were celebrating my birthday! Be prepared to step back to Little Italy in New York! The food was so good we can't wait to return! Our waitress was the best! I believe her name was Carlene! She navigated is through the menu and explained other offerings we may want to try. They have lunch specials, American food, Italian and Indian dishes! They have steaks and seafood as well! Can't wait to try the filet with a cherry wine sauce! The restaurant is beautiful but very comfortable and friendly! The owner, Destin, took us on a tour and gave us even more suggestions next time we visit! The only regret is that we did not know about this place before! It is in the basement of the Perry Building, but very handicap friendly! Private rooms are available for your next party or event!

For the small town of Lufkin, in the deep east part of Texas, this establishment was (is) pretty hip. Had some colorful eats - outside of what you'd expect in Texas. Friendly staff, great cook (chef) and engaged ownership.

My friend & I decided to have lunch here hoping to find good seafood with a taste of Louisiana. We found neither. The seafood was not fresh and not seasoned well. I had a shrimp platter and chose not to eat all of it as it was not tasty. My friend said his fish was the same. The atmosphere was nice and service was good but I will not return. I couldâve had better seafood at Captain Dâs or Popeyeâs.

I went here for a luncheon with a group of about 30 ladies from church. The decor was pretty & the food was incredible. I ordered the trio with spinach quiche, chicken salad & apple walnut salad. It's not a very big place & our group couldn't all sit in the same room but we had a great time & our waitress was great, always smiling! Also the almond tea is wonderful!!
