We were passing through the area and stopped here for lunch. We were instructed it was self seating and were promptly given menus and beverages. And then we waited and waited. Finally our orders were taken and we waited and waited and waited. After seeing others arrive after us,get served and leave, I inquired about our food. We were told it was the open faced roast beef sandwich that was the delay. It was thirty minutes after our arrival that our food was served. The open faced roast beef was barely warm and they were out of cole slaw. Two of the three of us had the mashed potatoes and they were cold, looked like wall paper paste, and not edible. The report was that the chicken tenders were good. I had a salad plate and the cantaloupe was not cleaned on the inside. We love local places but sorry, can't recommend this one.

The Twisted Sisters restaurant provided fresh and tasty pizza of all varieties at only $10 per pizza. The wings were also delicious, and the creatively flavored cookies were a great snack to take away. Though modest, the charming gift shop and inspiring quotes along the walls made the experience altogether quite enjoyable, and definitely a delightful alternative to the Fall Creek Fall's Inn restaurant (especially for those looking to avoid the traditional country-style fare). Avoid visiting in large groups because of the limited seating.

I like Subways because you can get anything and everything you want on your sandwich. One of my favorites is the cold cut combo. I haven't had a bad sandwich at a subway I just wish they could make a sandwich without having to consume so much bread.

Just an old fashioned diner with great burgers and fries. Great service! Bring cash to pay though. It is a cute town but not many places to eat. Lived up to its good reputation. On town square.

Morgan Brothers BBQ

Food was great and reasonably priced. Service fast and friendly. 3 of us drove here from Fall Creek falls State Park. We had ribs, chicken and veggie plate. All the dishes were very good. Staff very friendly. I believe they have only been open for 2 months. Place was clean and comfortable. Chicken dish came with 2 sides and was under $10.00. I do not live in the area otherwise I'd be a regular. Hope they do well. We really enjoyed the meal and the friendly staff.

Wooden's Apple House - Pie Shop

It's a long beautiful drive to arrive. Careful some of the roads are very curvy. Pikeville is Central time zone. However, this place is located on the eastern side making it Eastern time zone. I know that may sound confusing but it's handy information to have. I enjoyed seeing how the families not only here but in the general area still make a living from the land. It was like a breath of fresh air! Some have compared them to Carver's in Cosby. Other than the "apple" part they are worlds different. Now, on to reviewing.... the pie shop has multiple treats for purchase. We brought home fried pies and they were delicious!! I got an apple cider slush for the road when we were leaving. I got the small and regretted not getting the large!! The restaurant is café style. You get in line (like when in school), take your cutlery and napkin and put it on a tray. Then you move through the line telling them what you want. After paying, which was $8.99 for a meat and two sides with roll or cornbread. Now, you TRY to find a seat at one of the tables. There's not many tables inside (several outside). You may find a table to discover no chairs at it where people have moved them to other tables. We got lucky as one became empty just as we paid and turned around. The food.... I had apple cider bbq, turnip greens and pinto with cornbread muffin. Everything was delicious except for the cornbread. I am some what of a cornbread snob and I just didn't care for theirs. It was the "country" taste I expected or that I'm used to. My husband had fried chicken breast, mash potatoes and pinto beans with a roll. He said the chicken was alright. He said it was kinda dry. He did enjoy his veggies and roll. The shop had some empty spaces on the tables. The staff was hard at it trying to keep them filled up. It was a very busy Saturday so I'm sure they were doing the best they could. I will say EVERYONE of the staff we came in contact with were very friendly and many thanking us for coming. Would we go there again? Probably not. Not because we didn't enjoy. But, because there are several great places to visit that isn't so far out of the way.
