My first visit hereâ¦but not my last. This hidden gem on Nolensville Rd is a rare combination of classic Korean and Japanese foods in a family style atmosphere. Loved the assortment of small tastings provided, ranging from slightly sweet to spicyâ¦they were a nice addition to the overall meal. Went with the deep fried dumpling as an appetizer and once cooled down had a wonderful flavor and went well with the sauces provided. My first time enjoying Bibimbap in a hot bowlâ¦loved how it is put together and the great flavors, very tasty. The Korean beef BBQ is incredible, the flavors need no extra sauces or dipping, and I loved how it was served on a sizzling hot plate. After snipping off the meat with scissors, make sure you leave enough on the bone to savor! On a side note, the Bibimbap we ordered lacked any beef and we pointed it out to one of the servers. Within minutes, an older Korean lady comes to the table and heaps some freshly cooked beef onto the Bibimbapâ¦LOL Just love this kind of service and passion for food. Service was great and you canât beat the price for the amount and quality of food served.
I read about this place ages ago but it's not really in my usual stomping grounds, so today I was there at lunch time and checked it out. From the outside, you have no idea that it's such an attractive inviting place to dine. Very pleasantly surprised! The service was fast from very nice servers. Since it was my first trip, I got a bento box so that I could sample different things. The salad that came with the bento box was delicious. It does have lots of dressing, as someone else mentioned, but that dressing is so delicious that I used my soup spoon to eat every bit of it! They gave me a large serving of miso soup and honestly, I'm not much of a miso fan, so it was lost on me but if you like miso, you'll probably love it! I liked the teriyaki shrimp. Nice, fat, well cooked and spiced shrimp. Now for what wasn't up to par for me, the California roll. As one other reviewer said, it's has very little rice and it's extremely small. The wasabi and pickled ginger were great, especially the wasabi, it was POWERFUL! I will definitely go back and try some other things.

Weâve passed Thai Papaya many times on the way back and forth to the airport and Samâs Club (just down the street), and finally stopped in for lunch.A simple but pleasantly-decorated place, with uncovered tables and booths and a tray of sauces and condiments on each table. Napkins from pop-up dispensers on the tables. And a Health Department rating of 95/100! We had only seen the name, âThai Papayaâ from the street (the restaurant is in a strip mall on busy Harding Place), but the lower part of the logo does say âThai, Sushi, & Vietnamese Food.â And not just sushi, but other Japanese dishes and Bento boxes (see my photo of the take-out menu).Lunch service was a bit odd and detached, as I now see that some earlier reviews (although some are from 3 years ago) have notedâ but acceptable. Our meal was served quickly. When we asked to confirm that we could get rice noodle dishes Gluten-Free, our server had no idea what we were talking about. We able to determine that soy sauce couldnât be left out of sauces because sauces are already prepared. And, we learned, thereâs soy sauce in the Phá».A bánh mì sandwich was hot, on a thick roll which wasnât exactly French bread, but served the purpose well. Phá» Gà comes in Kids ($4.95) Small ($6.95), Large, and âSuper Bowlâ ($10.95) sizes, and the basil, jalapeño and bean sprouts on the side were crunchy and fresh. Good-tasting broth. A Vietnamese Iced Coffee wasn't served at the table, but came already mixed from the kitchen but it was creamy and sweet, the way I like it. Thai Papaya had no dessert available (at least at lunch), other than bubble teas. The food was pretty good, and reasonably priced. A good place for a simple meal or sandwich. If we think ahead the next time weâre on the way west to BNA, Thai Papaya might be a good place to pick up a bánh mì or spring rolls before a flight, or to bring with us on a flight.

What are you really enjoyed the rice noodles which were called drunken noodles. We also got several appetizers such as the dumplings which were delicious. And ordered some sushi rolls which were fresh and tasted very nice the restaurant is definitely worth visiting.
I have eaten here 5 times now, both in person and take-out. My family was really impressed the first time which was shortly after they opened. Staff seems to have lost the initial enthusiasm that was present in the food and service. I had takeout yesterday that was lackluster. The pho broth was missing the depth of flavor that I found the first time I had it and that has been the case the last two times I ordered. I think I'm going to have to move on which I find so disappointing given the lack of options in this area.
