Several years ago I occassionally traveled in Memphis on business. A client introduced me to this restaurant and from that time foreward I always made a point to eat here when in the Memphis area. Service is good. Food was good, but not outstanding. However, I would still recommend this restaurant. It was good enough. My wife and I shared a slab of ribs with slaw and baked beans and enjoyed banana pudding and strawberry cake for dessert.

My wife and I went to this restaurant with great anticipation...Unfortunately, we left completely unimpressed, The greeting was friendly and the service was fine. However, the pulled pork sandwich was served less than luke warm. Mine had a surprising amount of fat. My wife said hers was "okay." The seating was very cramped particularly when you are sitting against a wall. The price based on serving size was reasonable but not for what we got. We may go back to see if this was just an off day but probably not unless we hear rve reviews from others.Hello rs49ss47,I apologize for your warm sandwich and the fat content. We will work hard to solve these issues. We are very proud of our overall 4.5 out of 5 Bubbles on Trip Advisor and would like an opportunity to show you and your wife that we are worthy of this rating. I would like an opportunity to invite you back on me. Would you be willing to email me ([email protected]) your work or home mailing address and I will put a gift certificate in the mail immediately? Thank you for your review and I look forward to your response.Sincerely,Mike CorderVice President of OperationsOne and Only [email protected]

They do serve great brisket, smokey, moist and fork-tender. Otherwise, we did not care for the side dishes offered. Not the traditional potato salad, coleslaw and baked beans. We both had cheese grits which came in a baked wedge, very dry throughout, okay flavor. He had Cider slaw, made with red cabbage and cider--it was okay. I had the purple hull pea and corn succotash and for me it was awful. The corn took on the color of the peas making it unattractive, there were bits of onion, I think celery and other things, but the overriding scent was, i think, cumin-not pleasant, plus for me the flavors did not go well together. There was also one quarter of a waffle on each plate and it was very dry. Atmosphere is harsh--the booth we sat in was tall and uncomfortable, harsh sounds bounced off the walls. Now, staff was pleasant, we were seated right away. The waiter recommended the brisket and suggested i get the larger portion of meat. I chose the smaller portion and it was just right for dinner. A choice of bar, tables, tall booths or outside seating is available. Plenty of parking.

Pluses- fast service, he got details all right, separate checks no problem, to-go pies came out fast, reasonable prices, fun atmosphere. Large meat portions, my friends said the BBQ ribs were great. Minuses- I’m a vegetarian, so I had mac&cheese (gummy and flour-y), green beans (tasteless), and something else. It was very disappointing. But you don’t go to Corkys for anything but barbecue, so it’s my bad.meCnewplaces,Thank you for your feedback. We take pride in serving great food and providing excellent service, and while I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed many aspects of the visit and your friend enjoyed the ribs, I'm disappointed to hear that we missed the mark on this visit. When you have some time, please contact me at [email protected] so that I can further discuss this, and we can use this as a learning opportunity going forward.

I checked the reviews on Trip Advisor and decided to pay them a visit as we had a guest from out of town and had already taken him to the Commissary.Well.... bad decision. This place made us leave with a bad taste in our mouths. Service was aloof, the table was dirty and even if the server cleaned 1/3 of it with a wet rag (throwing food on the floor), 2/3 remained dirty. The server did not bring us straws even after we asked twice. One of us has a tomato allergy and we alerted them for that. Despite that, they brought the order wrong and of course that included a salad (not ordered) with tomatoes. The waitress and the server were great at avoiding eye contact. We had to call the person-in-charge (manager?) who corrected things. The food was not that bad but not worth it. Mac n’ cheese looked out of the microwave oven.Choose someplace else.
