This a small place..nothing fancy, however the food is WONDERFUL!!! If you love southern, down home cooking, You'll love it!!! Lots of locals dine here, but if you can find it while you're in WInchester, I would really suggest you give it a try. It is kind of like having Sunday dinner at your Grandma's house to me. It makes me feel good. If you make it here, you have to try the fried chicken and peach cobbler with a little ice cream on the side....YUM!!! We haven't ordered off the menu, we've only eaten the buffet, but it's well worth it!! Very economical and friendly atmosphere. You can't always judge a book by it's cover, so don't judge it by the way it looks. The food will make up for it. Highly recommended.

It was your typical Hardee's. We choose them often when we eat fast food. It was before 1030, but the staff was kind enough to fix us a fish sandwich.... we don't often do breakfast. Although their biscuits and gravy looked really good. We would recommend.

My very favorite is the cheeseburger plate. The burgers are handmade, on-site. They have daily specials of a meat and three vegetables, or just vegetables. We love eating here. The dining area is dated, but serviceable. It is a great old-time style restaurant.

If you are looking for a simply and affordable meal that is a decent value for your money this is your place. I had the scaly wag burger and tater tots. The burger was good but not great as it was a bit over cooked. The ingredients with the burger were simple but fresh. Waitstaff was friendly and timely but not overbearing. We did try the chess pie as we had never had that before. That particular pie was very tasty and a good part of southern history. I would definitely get it warmed up. Also the hours that are posted on here are NOT correct! They are open 10:30am to 9:00 pm most days.

Good and fast. love the omelettes . Fast and friendly place with plenty of parking. I have eaten here many times and the only complaint I have is in their effort to keep the dining area clean the help was sweeping the floor next to me while I ate.

We stopped here with our boys, on the way to a high school football game. We weren't very impressed by the outside of the building, but the food and service made up for that! Nice salad bar, fresh and kept restocked. Good rolls, excellent steaks, cold beer.

Big Marvs BBQ

I'm not terribly impressed with Big Marv's. At first the outside vibe looks promising - small dive, out in the middle of nowhere, giving off wonderful BBQ smells...the place has to be good, right? Inside, not so good. The fact that this place is often crowded, says more about the lack of good restaurants in town, than the quality of Big Marv's. People have to eat somewhere, I guess, but there's nothing great about Big Marv's food, service, or dining experience. Disclaimer: I'm from Texas, where we have very high standards for BBQ. Big Marv's just doesn't cut it for me. I hope I don't have to eat here again.

Dinner party of six for a birthday meal, I just followed along with my better half to dinner "somewhere in Winchester". Nice rustic house with welcoming decor, nostalgic background music. Ordered the special steelhead trout filet which came with the antipasto bar. Nice selection of cheeses, some type of cold salami, goat cheese rolled in hot pepper, marinated sliced portobello mushrooms, olives, all extremely tasty. Savored every bite. Then main course came: generous just-filleted fish cooked to perfection, again savored every succulent bite. Served on hearty bed of rice. Then shared two desserts, both quite good. Excellent excellent food and service.

My wife and I stopped here for lunch. We both had their DELICIOUS cheeseburger and fries. It reminded me of the burgers my grandmother used to make...HOME MADE FLAVOR and such friendly service. I love diners and this was no exception. Lots of easy parking in their own lot. Order and pay at the counter and they deliver to your table. The diner has a an art-deco 50's flavor to it...lots of fun!

John T's BBQ

John T's has it going on in Winchester. Location: check. Ambience: check. Service: check. Food: check. Value: check. The catfish is extraordinary. The white beans are delicious, seasoned to perfection. The cole slaw is so good I could make a meal on it and the delicious fried cornbread (hoecakes) they serve with their meals. The baked potatoes are just slightly smaller than footballs. We ordered it loaded with brisket and there was enough for two meals. Whether you save room for dessert or not, make sure to order the blackberry cobbler. It's a huge portion so plan to share and give it just a few seconds to let the vanilla ice cream melt and mix with the cobbler. Our server was right on the mark and prices are very reasonable, especially when you consider the amount of great food you are served. This is a place that we will return to in an attempt to work our way through the menu.
