Knowing how hard it is to get proper ingredients, before I arrived I was concerned about spice, quality, and authenticity. I have travelled to India about 18 times and am a foodie when it comes to Indian cuisine. I insist that spice is properly hot and not bland. The non-veg thali was a pleasant surprise--wow! Madras lamb curry was tender and trimmed and the flavor was complex--just great (chicken available), paneer masala, aloo fry, soup, yellow dal, mix raita, papad, roti chennai, real basmati rice, spicy pickle chutney, and dessert (dry sweet caramel-tasting ball--how can I remember the names of hundreds of milk sweets?!). Caveats: obviously you can find better in India, but not by much, and it is superior to all Indian food I have had stateside; the chef is from Chennai, if you don't like South India flavors it might not work for you (I love food from across India and plan to have breakfast dosa soon). At 117,000som the thali is not a bargain, but each small tuffin was spot on. Congratulations and well done, Raaj Kapur.

This seems to be a little known restaurant for Indian food in Tashkent, although Google and tripadvisor throw up the name in searches. Even our guide didnât know it. They all knew only Raaj Kapur restaurant. This hotel is around 1 km from the Grand Mir hotel and naturally is great for arians like us. We ordered aloo paratha, veg biriyani and raitha, and these were delicious. The prices were reasonable too. Highly recommend it.
