We arrived by bike on a cycling tour from Slovenia. Discus bike store. We had a third floor room, in the roof, with slipping ceilings, full of books and crannies, which we thought quirky and enchanting. As we were on a half board bays, we ate there too and the food was delicious and beautifully cooked. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Stayed at the hotel twice in 8 days (stayed for 4 nights) as a base for a motorcycle trip around Italy/croatia/solvinia. We paid for the half board and we are so glad we did. The food is amazing. We would have liked larger portion but that's because we are quite large bikers!!!! The food was a choice of two dishes for a starter, main and dessert. As good as the food was I think I wouldn't pay half board and just pay for my meal, there was such a choice from their menu and one night I fancied something from that rather then the set menu. The beer served here is by far the best in the town, we tried several, maybe all the bars in town and this hotel topped them all. And it was very nice drinking in the garden next to the river. The staff were very helpful seeing as very few English people visit this area and it isn't widely spoken. After several humourous attampts to communicate we were given advise on where to go, what to do and what to watch out for. The room we had was of good size, two single beds albeit quite close together. Beds were comfy, even more so after a few beers. There were blind on the windows and doors so nice and dark at night. Inly let down was the shower, even though the bathroom was massive, the shower was very small. Every time you turned you hit the temperature knob and either were frozen or scalded. We will stay here again.

We stayed here with 33 students, unfortunately the landlady marred an otherwise lovely ski trip! In fairness, the facilities were good; there were tables in reception for coffee, a common room and clean en-suite bedrooms. The downside was the landlady. She started shouting almost as soon as we walked in and didn't stop for our entire stay. I would class her as one of the rudest individuals I have ever had the displeasure to meet. Firstly, there was too much noise as 37 people carried bags in and up the stairs. The students weren't shouting or being unreasonable, just dragging cases upstairs. After this some boys spilled biscuits, asked for a broom to clear their own mess up and were screamed at. The landlady proceeded to tell the boys that "this is not normal in Italy" before shouting at two members of staff. The boys had made a mistake, apologised and were trying to rectify it - what was wrong with that? After this students were told off for opening a window. The temperature in the rooms was set to 25 degrees and the rooms were like saunas, deeply unpleasant for any length of time! As we couldn't adjust the heating in the rooms I'm not sure what else the students should have done? I wouldn't have minded the landlady having a quiet word with a member of staff, but just like the biscuits she screamed at students then barrelled over to staff to scream some more. It was definitely an interesting approach to customer service! As the week went on there were many other minor things which could have easily been dealt with if she was polite or reasonable - but she chose to scream and shout, alienating the teachers on the trip. The evening meal was pork every night and vegetarians were served a block of cheese with potatoes twice (photo below), despite the hotel having their dietary requirements in advance - totally unacceptable. If you have dietary requirements I would suggest you avoid this hotel/restaurant like the plague!! We paid extra for a pizza night as the restaurant has a good reputation. As hotel guests our experience was inferior to an external group who came in an hour later. Asking for anything other than margarita pizza seemed to be a huge inconvenience and we given mushroom pizza or ham pizza instead. The group after us were given options like pepperoni which are much more suitable for a school group! Some pizza was not eaten by students and the staff were shouted at again - apparently it is very rude not to eat large quantities of mushroom pizza. Take notice of this and the several other reviews on here which mention her rudeness before you book - people have not been exaggerating!

We found this lovely little B&B after a long days drive from Croatia. My husband was suffering from a bout of food poisoning and needed to rest up for a couple of days before we re-commenced travelling. This looked like the perfect place.... nestled in the Alps it looked like there were lovely forest walks, and (although summer) ski-lifts etc that could be explored, plus a lovely little village with a pub or two etc nearby... (for me of course)! We were offered a "bungalow" which consisted of 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen/dining/lounge and a sun room - all for 60Euro incl Breakfast (continental). HOwever a drawback with the property was that if another couple turned up they would be placed in the second bedroom?? and there are no separate keys to these rooms - preumabely in high season whole families or groups of friends would book this out. Fortunately we had the bungalow to ourselves. However our misfortune continued - during the night - about 3.00am I awoke to a dreadful wafting odour... fearing it was my ill husband - I jumped up - only to find that he was peaceful in bed asleep - and the odour (which was putrid) was coming from the bathroom... obviously something terribly wrong with the plumbing... I tried to seal the room to prevent to smell - but failed.... needless to say - I didn't sleep, and found myself wretching from the odour. Don't get me wrong - it wasn't leaking sewerage or anything like that - the bathroom was spotlessly clean... it was so bad I couldn't go in there to shower or clean my teeth etc.... I waited until we got to a roadside service station.. The owner however was a sincerely lovely lady (and her husband) who delivered b'fast next morning. She sheepishly apologised (what could she do - no benefit of hindsight here) but seemed to know that this problem existed. Needless to say no rest for the wicked (hubby) we had to move on... This could have been an excellent stay - priced right and the rooms were great (except the bathroom). We did note however that the TV operations were somewhat complicated and not reading Italian - we struggled to get anything to watch.. so an early night was probably the message from heaven. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the stay - as long as the plumbing in the bathroom was fixed... very unfortunate!

Hotel International is set at the city entrance. Its locations will give you the chance to take advantage of all the amenities avaiable in this area. In the Summer time you will surely enjoy taking wonderful walks into the woods, to the lakeside promenade, and along the countryside paths or making trips to Austria, Slovenia and to Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia's highly artistic cities. Tennis courts, golf courses, the city centre, the church
A basic three stars hotel. Helpful staff, clean rooms. Good sleep. Five starts for the person doing reservations. Free parking. One kilometer out of the center. Awfully basic breakfast. No scrambled eggs? This is a standard for every hotel. At breakfast you dont even get glasses. Just plastic cups. Elevator extremely slow. Batroom very small and only a very basic shampoo. Overall ok.

Spent three nights at this lovely agriturismo which is operated by a warm and caring family. We did not want to leave this place where you wake up to a magnificent view of the Alps and the sounds of grazing horses and cows. Breakfast is included and dinner is optional. After eating dinner there on our first night we quickly decided there was no reason to eat elsewhere thereafter. Highly recommend hiking the nearby Sounds of the Forest trail. Go visit the museum in Malborghetto and most definitely drive to the magnificent Laghe di Fusine and hike around one or both of the lakes. Thank you Marisa, Anna and Papa.

Hotel Adriatico is situated right in the center of Tarvisio on the main road and along the new Alpe Adria Bike Path, a cross-border long-distance bike route from the mountains (Austria, Slovenia,Tarvisio) to the sea (Grado). The hotel is small and offers a cosy familiar atmosphere. A simple, clean, and affordable place to stay on the main strip in Tarvisio. This wasn't listed on the hotel signs in Tarvisio, but I was so glad to find it above a little cafe. I was a solo bicycle tourist there in late October, and I appreciated having a warm but cheap place to stay. I had a simple room that was clean and comfortable with a nice bathroom. I know it's funny, but I enjoyed having sheets and blankets just like I have in the United States, instead of just a comforter like they do in Austria and Germany. It felt luxurious. The hotel had wifi available, which I appreciated for brushing up on Italian since I had just biked across the border from Austria to Italy. It was very economical and breakfast was a simple European cappuccino and brioche type of breakfast. The staff spoke Italian and German when I visited. I knew enough German to communicate as I had not gotten the chance to study Italian, but I think that it would have worked out even without German. I would stay there again. It is as good as it gets for low-cost accomodations.
