Very nice

Lovely accommodation and breakfast left in room. The only thing i can say, and its not a complaint, is that the tv should be on the wall opposite the bed so you can watch the tv at night time while snuggled up in bed

Overpriced and disappointing.

Hotel room was very old and well past needing a renovation. The room smelt stale and stuffy and was dusty and had a mouldy bathroom. Staff advised a renovation was upcoming - well overdue. The hotel was not cheap ans really did not meet our expectations. We could walk into town, which was helpful. But I’m all other aspects disappointing.

This gorgeous 1920’s home has rooms for 4 couples. We were in the smallest room as the other rooms were booked when we decided to stay here. Regardless it was a lovely experience. Nestled amongst vineyards and close to many wonderful wine, food and gin experiences we can highly recommend a stay here. Sophia and Leo are enthusiastic about the area and their love and knowledge of the local community enhanced the stay. Sophia cooks a lovely breakfast (included) and the home maintains a lovely old world feel. Sophia’s lovely insights to the area made for a memorable stay. We were very comfortable during our four night stay and would happily visit again and encourage others to do so.

Can sum it up in one word. Homely

Reviewed By Serving_Reason

This is a beautiful facility with three separate cottages. The exterior is beautiful, as is the interior. The signage could be a little more pronounced, as we missed it twice when we drove through. Our booking was through an external website and we didn’t receive the lock box instructions. This meant we had to call and leave a voicemail to get the details. Our cottage was very roomy with a federation theme throughout. The overall word to describe it is “homely”. We instantly felt at home. The kitchenette is well appointed and good bathroom facilities. The bed is very comfortable with crisp clean linen. This was a fantastic and surprising stay. Highly recommend.

Fresh and comfortable

We picked stopping at Tanunda mostly to break up our travel day after leaving Kangaroo Island for Broken Hill. We were greeted by the manager, a lovely young lady, and made most welcome. All the units have been refurbished with fresh paint and new carpets and fittings. Beds are very comfortable, nice hot showers, jug, toaster etc included. Rooms are air conditioned. Located just on the edge of town only minutes to town centre. There is a restaurant here with Asian or Aussie menu, great friendly service from Sherry and staff. Highly recommended.

High five to Jerry

Reviewed By TheMarriagebuddies

We had a lovely stay at Jacobs Creek Retreat. It's a romantic space with a beautiful garden. I have to make a shout out to Jerry - although contactless check in was offered we ran into him on the grounds and he explained the history of the space to us which was wonderful. Furthermore, we unfortunately had a little bad luck during our trip and dropped our cheese platter on the ground (smashing the plates and all) Jerry was so lovely, he came running to check up on us when he heard the smash, he was much more worried about us than the plates and he even gifted us a cheese as a replacement!!!! No major hotel would be providing above and beyond service like this. Thank you!

A little bit disappointed

Reviewed By 356RebeccaE

Charming cottage in the heart of Tanunda, but the garden could use a little more love. Stayed here for 3 nights over the March long weekend. Towels are soft, kitchen well equipped and plenty of breakfast provisions (eggs, bacon, yogurt, cereal, milk, orange juice etc). Beds are comfy (if a little soft for my liking) but I slept very well. Beautiful big spa in the bathroom and good shower. Port and chocolates on arrival were a nice touch and undercover parking for 2 cars. There were some beautiful white doves in the dove coat too. My bedroom was upstairs and the only bathroom is downstairs so you need to be mindful of that if you have trouble with stairs, or need to get up to use the bathroom in the night. Couches were also cheap and uncomfortable. The gardens have the potential to be really pretty, but they were looking a bit unloved. Not like in some of the pictures. The wooden bench in the garden was quite rickety. But nothing that a new bench, more water and some fertiliser wouldn’t fix though. Be careful when booking too. It’s advertised as 2br cottage. We booked for two of us and when we arrived the 2nd bedroom was locked. They didn’t realise we were two single friends and would be using both bedrooms. At first they told us it would cost an extra $50 per night per person, but then reduced it to an extra $100 total for the 3 nights, then told us how to unlock the 2nd bedroom. Might have been an issue with us not being clear about bedding requirements, or the booking system. Just might be best to check with the owners prior to booking so everyone is clear on requirements and costs.
