Reviews on Chinese food in Taichung, Taiwan. Among its many tourist attractions, Taichung offers a downtown shopping experience similar to that of Tokyo or Manhattan, a bustling nightlife, and a cuisine to please even the pickiest palate. Travelers come to this city to feast their eyes on the temples, markets, parks, and museums. Touring families often visit the Taichung National Museum of Natural Science to marvel over the exhibits or the Feng Chia night market to purchase local goods. But perhaps what Taichung is known for the most is Bubble tea, the most famous beverage in the region.

It's good to have everything served though some order was missing. Varieties of drinks/fruit could be reviewed.Better to go before 5pm if u don't make an appointment.

The restaurant served buffet style food for $28.50. This is a relatively high-end buffet in Taichung. The restaurant was at lower B1F (basement floor) of a 5-starred hotel, elegantly decorate and set-upped. There are plenty of choices to go around from seafood to Taiwanese, Japanese and American styled foods. Ready to make noodle soups, ready to make fish dishes. Fresh Fruits, ice cream, icy dessert, etc.

This place has been around since 1933 and the flavors hasn't changed from the last 30 years. A must for all foreign visitors searching real local food you can't get normally!A porkball covered in a gelatinous wrap with sauces most westerners haven't tasted. A nice balance of sweet and salty. Don't forget to get one of the 2 soups options. The menu is simple, just 3 options. K.I.S.S!

This is my first time having Hot and Sour steamboat so was slightly anxious to try. However, the waitress was very patient and always attentive to point out the sauce to use, the soup spiciness level, check the fire, etc. We ordered the 'Yuan Yang' combination which has the clear soup on one side while spicy on the other. It was interesting that she recommended you can mix the soup and amazingly, it taste really good ! Honestly, the duck blood taste better than pig blood in my opinion.

The food and service were great before. My experience today was not. There were no facial expression on the face of inner service man, especially those behind kitchen. They simply did what you ask/request without giving you any notification or response back. The food is ok for today~

So, the food here is amazing. As a westerner turned onto hot pot recently, I am obsessed with trying new hot pot restaurants. The problem was the lack of respect, and complete disregard of normal service industry communication. No one told us about the hour and a half limit. NO ONE. My boyfriend and I were having a great date night, with hot pot and a bottle of Sake. We had finished our meal, and had a bit more Sake to finish up before we headed out. A waiter comes over, tells us that our time is up and that we need to leave. What?! If that's your house rule, you should probably tell your customers at the beginning of their meal. NOT at the end, making them feel rushed and disrespected. I am a server/bartender. I would never ever ever do this. I can't even fathom it. We called the next day to talk to a manager. Apparently there was a reservation waiting for the table. Funny thing is, there were many open tables and no one waiting in the lobby for a seat when we were rushed out. I will never go back here, and will do my best to deter people from eating at this rude establishment.

Vegans and vegetarians can rejoice in having a fancy option for hot pot dinner, but you do have to call head to get a vegan broth. The dishes are ordered one at a time.

The soup dumplings are insanely delicious, especially the more unusual silk melon/shrimp ones. The NT70 appetizer made with tofu strips, seaweed, bean sprouts, and glass noodles is fabulous and a-must-order dish, and the Suan La Tang (Sour and Spicy Soup) made with bamboo slivers, tree mushroom slices, bean curd strips, and carrot shreds is one of the best I've ever eaten. Always a truly magnificent experience!
