Zaporizhia (Ukrainian: Запорі́жжя [zɑpoˈriʒʒjɑ]) or Zaporozhye (Russian: Запоро́жье [zəpɐˈroʐjɪ]), formerly Alexandrovsk (Russian: Алекса́ндровск [ɐlʲɪˈksandrəfsk]), is a city in southeastern Ukraine, situated on the banks of the Dnieper River.
