The Nitra Region is one of the administrative regions of Slovakia. It was first established in 1923 and from 1996 exists in its present borders. It consists of seven districts /okresy/ and 354 municipalities, from which 15 have a town status.

Topoľčany ([ˈtopoʎtʃani] ( listen); Slovak: Veľké Topoľčany before 1920; Hungarian: Nagytapolcsány) is a town in the Nitra Region of Slovakia. The population as of 2006 was 28,685. The town's population is nicknamed Žochári (sing. Žochár) (producers, or owners of "mosses").
