The Moravian-Silesian Region (Czech: Moravskoslezský kraj; Polish: Kraj morawsko-śląski; Slovak: Moravsko-sliezsky kraj), is one of the 14 administrative Regions of the Czech Republic. Before May 2001 it was called the Ostrava Region (Czech: Ostravský kraj). The region is located in the north-eastern part of its historical region of Moravia and in most of the Czech part of the historical region of Silesia. The region borders the Olomouc Region to the west and the Zlín Region to the south. It also borders two other countries – Poland (Opole and Silesian Voivodeships) to the north and Slovakia (Žilina Region) to the east.
Frýdlant nad Ostravicí (Czech pronunciation: [ˈfriːdlant ˈnat ostravɪtsiː]; German: Friedland (an der Ostrawitza); Latin: Vriedlant) is a small town in the Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic. It lies on the Ostravice River at the foot of Lysá hora, the highest mountain of the Moravian-Silesian Beskids. In the past it was an important ironworks center. Today it is mainly a holiday resort.
Frýdek-Místek (Czech pronunciation: [ˈfriːdɛk ˈmiːstɛk], Polish: Frydek-Mistek; German: Friedeck-Mistek) is a city in Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic. It is the administrative centre of Frýdek-Místek District. Frýdek-Místek is located at the confluence of two rivers Ostravice and Morávka in the foothills of the Beskyds near the Polish (25 km) and Slovakia (35 km) borders. The city history reaches back to the 13th century, when Gothic castle was established. On January 1, 1943 the Germans joined the up-until-then separate towns of Frýdek and Místek in a twin-town.
Čeladná is a village in the Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic. It lies under the Moravian-Silesian Beskids Range. There are many holiday houses in the large area of the village. In recent years it has become a popular holiday resorts with new hotels, a horse ranch, golf course and new apartment buildings are being built right in the centre.
