After a weekend visit to my parents, they suggested we try lunch at R&D's...I knew this old restaurant as the Dreamland when I was growing up. There's a small hotel next door. It was raining cats and dogs and it looked like business was brisk. When we got inside I found out why. The smells put me back at grandma's after church on Sunday...Fried Chicken, cornbread dressing and all the fixin's. Rutabegas, squash casserole, rice and gravy. Everyone at the table but me had dessert, they were roaring about the strawberry "chewy cake". I couldn't have any because I was so full of fried chicken. I'm a sweet tea snob...and they have really good sweet tea. I loved it, and will be back...Also ran into one of my elementary school pal's 90 year old father, that in and of itself was well worth the trip.

I love coming to the Huddle House when I'm in town visiting family. Fortunately there is never a wait and the service is pretty good. We try to go when Glenda's working because she's the best.
There is plenty to choose from on the menu but no matter what time of day I go I always get a breakfast meal. Their portions are pretty generous and consistently good.
The decor of the restaurant is nothing impressive but the quality of the food and service keeps me coming back!

We've eaten here twice now, both times because it is popular with the locals and they always recommend it. You have to be a local to find it or even know about it, as it is located in a rural area far from the highway.
I had the glazed blackened salmon both times and it was pretty good. The salad bar included chili, but my wife said it was made with sugar in it and was very sweet. There is a large pond in the back stocked with catfish and you can walk out on the deck and feed the fish while you wait for your dinner. The service was just fine. I paid $58 for a party of four for dinner (before tip) and I thought that was plenty reasonable.
A word of warning; they accept nothing but cash (unless known to the owner, the sign by the door says). We had to backtrack to the nearest ATM in Sylvania the first time we went here.

The food is average to good, your typical country food options but it isn't consistent. There are better options for country food in this town but there is also worse places to try. The building is dated and it isn't the most inviting place to stop.

We happened on this restaurant by accident around 7:45 one night. The place was fairly busy but we were taken care of quickly. Just a heads up the parking lot is very small. Once we were seated we were given reddish orange chips and salsa. Have been to many mexican restaurants and none have had colored chips. The salsa was loaded with cilantro which I love. We both ordered the same dish. Arroz something or other. Can't remember name. It was rice with meat, vegetables and cheese. Everything was delicious. Would return if ever in the area again.

My wife (who is from Sylvania) visited this location on Thanksgiving Eve to pick up some sandwiches for our family. The employees went above and beyond to make her feel welcome. She was so impressed she asked me to write this review. Oh yeah, the sandwiches were good, too.

Had the lunch buffet here today along with son and daughter- in- law and their two
children. They had a country type buffet. You get a meat and three sides.
They had very generous servings. Today they had fried chicken, baked BBQ chicken,
and BBQ pork. They had greens beans, candied yams, creamed corn, dressing, peach cobbler, butterbeans macaroni and cheese, pecan pie, sweet potato pie, coconut pie, and lemon pie. You got a choice of biscuit or corn meal muffin.
You go through a line and they have plenty of friendly servers who place the
food on your plate as it comes down the line. You move through pretty fast and pick up your plate and drink at the end. You find a place to sit. The food was very good,
The restaurant was very clean.

Walked into this McDonald's and this was the most filthy one I ever came across. There was a milk shake spilled on the floor that looked like it had been there for hours.
Ordered blueberry creme pie a special item. Of course they could only give 1/2 our order unless we wanted to wait over 15 minutes. The fries were very good.
Now the drink bar has not been scrubbed down probably all day long. It was a complete mess. We were tired and just took our order to go.
This is a health disaster waiting to happen.

I have yet to eat a donut that I like as well as hers. Bakeries in 2 of the surrounding counties were named to the Top Best Donuts in the State, but whomever did the tasting apparently didn't visit here. The sweets don't stop at donuts, she has a wide variety of pastries including another favorite of mine, the fried croissant. Be sure to stop in for lunch and be served any type of deli sandwich to pasta salads (in the warm months) to a variety of soups (in the cold months).
