Brought 2 friends here based on reviews. Absolutely spot on reviews - the food, the service and the staff were great. Service was brilliant, friendly, available but unobtrusive.Three middle-aged women enjoyed a lunch of roast cauliflower salad, a leo bagel and a shakshuka with a fresh juice. The vegetarian of our trio was particularly impressed she had a number of menu options, and not just the usual nod to vegetarianism. We left happy but extremely full due to the generous servings. I love it when you visit a place with great reviews to find they are true!

Stopped here for a quick family breakfast on Good Friday when a lot of other places were closed. We struck lucky. The service was quick and friendly. The breads are made onsite so are lovely and fresh. The granola was also extremely fresh served with yoghurt and fruit compote. A great little find.

Welcoming staff who work very hard with those who eat or outside at the pavement tables and with the takeaway crowds. The flat white I ordered arrived quickly despite their busy-ness and was perfect while their very own take on a bacon and egg roll was excellent with the added tang of their BBQ sauce. But beware, the eggs are deliciously runny. And again it seemed that the hot food arrived very quickly. All in all a very enjoyable brekkie.

Hidden off busy King St, this is an oasis of motorcycle workshop and dining place.Although the tables were communal, all diners were seated at the ends allowing for quiet conversations without being in the face of the next diner. The service was professional and friendly, with short explanations of the food. The beers were great and so was the coffee. The sardine katsu was just delicious with the thick soft serve white bread, just enough slaw and wasabi. I haven’t had a good steak frites in ages and this was delightful. Cooked rare with an amazing charred outside, it was truly enjoyable. The butter with mushrooms and fungus was unusual but felt right with the steak. We had the pandan dessert with palm sugar honeycomb. It was very different yet good.I am glad I had the opportunity to try their creative food.

Black Toast

Reviewed By taraustralis

I’ve been going to Black Toast for years and the service has gone really down hill. A few weeks back, one server seemed straight out of Home and Away and wasn’t really sure how to actually take orders or serve. When trying to pay up front, the young man treated me like I was stealing and yelled to come back to pay near the service counter. I can assure you that I wasn’t. With cash in hand and at the ripe old age of 39, it’s not in my best interest to steal from my community. In the past, I’ve never had a problem paying up front when the servers are busy. Another thing I’ve noticed is when I go to Black Toast as a solo patron, it seems quite frowned upon. I always feel like they quickly want to rush me out the door. There is a very large bench that can be shared by large groups or solo patrons. It was only 9am when I was there and hardly busy. I’m always a fan to support local businesses and leave when things get too crazy at the cafe. Another thing that bothered me is, I had a slight tickle in my throat and had the occasional cough. Instead of the host offering a cup of warm water, it was presented to me and my half bottle and full cup of water was taken from my area. I didn't touch the warm water - it’s not my type of drink and at this point, I knew that it was time to leave. There’s so many amazing cafe’s to choose from in Sydney - this was one of them, but sadly it’s time for me to move on. Thank you for the lovely Bacon and Egg sandwiches - they were wonderful.

Used to be a regular favourite cafe. Our last few visits were appalling. Waited 45 min for our food. Was stale and cold when it arrived. Under cooked eggs- yuk. No finesse, and sloppy presentation too. New menu has increased prices significantly but removed the best items. Won’t recommend. Won’t come back.

This little cafe in Norton Street is great value for money. We visited for an early dinner with our dog and were well looked after on an outside footpath table. The waiter was most obliging in ensuring they could cater for food intolerances and he made us feel very welcome. The meals were not complicated and expertly prepared. It was a treat on a week night when we didn't feel like cooking and on the whole a positive experience.

Although I don't go as often as I wish, every visit to revolver leaves me satisfied. A small cafe with a great setting in the middle of a suburban setting, the menu always has classic and more adventurous options for breakfast or brunch. If you plan to come, be prepared to wait, as this popular cafe is packed most of the times - but the food is worth the wait. Highly recommended!

We came here for a late breakfast after checking the reviews on TripAdvisor and weren’t disappointed. It does get very busy and we booked a table which I’d recommend. We still had to wait a bit on arrival for our table but the staff were very attentive and we were seated pretty quickly. Food was delicious and came out promptly. The juices are great (particularly the option to have them spiked)and taste fresh. Would definitely return!
