In a rustic yet elegant atmosphere, Fabio Badinotti and his team offer an extensive range of Mediterranean and regional cuisine. In addition to the traditional dishes and "the chef recommendation" on the menu, Chef Kenny Oberholz proposes seasonal and reg
Sunday, a winters day, raining yet Ascona still remains a lovely place to visit and we enjoyed lunch at al Pontile. The restaurant filled up yet it did not feel busy. The service was good, efficient and attentive.I took the lamb which was really good and in a party of four, each took a separate main course so you had plenty to talk about, exchange and sample. It's good when close friends like to share so you can sample each choice and get a clear impression. Certainly, I'd recommend this as a good place to go.

Our restaurant al Lago, in the garden by the lake, is a unique, green oasis on the Piazza of Ascona, with a stupendous view on the Lago Maggiore and the Brissago islands. For lunch we serve a choice of dishes of the day/menus and snacks. During the aftern
A special dinner on a warm summer's evening watching night fall over the lake. The outside tables have unique location in Ascona in a beautiful garden overlooking Lake Maggiore. The food more than matched the setting, with outstanding cooking, an excellent (and reasonably priced) wine list and careful service. Highly recommended.thank you very much for your fantastic rating. Our jung head chef Riccardo has always creative and tastefully meals on our menu. We hope we can see you in the future to surprise you again. Best regards from ascona

The Marina Restaurant boasts a unique location right by the shore of Lake Maggiore (14 Gault&Millau points). In a relaxed atmosphere enjoy a wide choice of pasta dishes, meat and fish delicacies from the grill as well as an extensive selection of cocktail
Since Marina was one of the top rated Trip Advisor restaurants in Ascona we made reservations. Unfortunately the restaurant didn't live up to our expectations at all. The service was bad. Ignorant servents and mediocre food. We had to send out the carpaccio since it was so tough, and didn't even get an excuse. "It's supposed to taste like this" was the response. Well - no - It's NOT suppused to taste like that ... Beyond that we had to ask for the bread basket, and not until we were about to leave the restaurant they lighted the candles on the table. And do I need to say that my daughter who ordered spaghetti bolognese ended up with carbonara ...? Sorry Marina, we are not coming back, and we are not going to recommend your restaurant. There are so many other more cosy restaurants in Ascona with better service and greater food.Dear MadamThank you for having taken the time to leave a statement concerning our restaurant Marina. We deplore to hear that your experience at the Marina did not fully meet your expectations. Regarding the unsatisfactory service, we would like to inform you that we already initiated measures where necessary. We would be happy to have the opportunity to welcome you back again at our restaurant Marina to persuade you with a great service according to our standards. In the meantime we wish you the very best.Yours sincerelyAndreas GartmannGeneral Manager

It became a custom for us to have at every visit in Locarno, regularly lunch and dinner in this really traditional Ticino Style restaurant. The rare to find traditional interior design, and the highly professional waiters is a highlight. And in combination with an excellent and richly varied menu it makes a memorable visit every time over decades. The antipasti are really appetizing, however the clams as a starter are really superior, mixed salad, pasta, and the Filetto di Manzo all magnificent. The wine list offers an exquisite selection, and particularly local wine of outstanding quality, the Amarone grappa is topnotch and together with an aromatic Espresso a further highlight. This with a delicious and freshly made Panna cotta just superb. Besides of all, this superior restaurant in the old Locarno city center offers the probably best Pizza in the region. This all for a very favourable cost-benefit ratio.

Very nice location on the patio. Coming from Vancouver Canada, we are probably a little spoiled with the exceptional quality of sushi/sashimi that can be found everywhere in that city. This restaurant did satisfy our sushi craving slightly, but if you are used to eating excellent sushi, you will not be impressed by the expensive, average at best fare that this restaurant serves.

The Restaurant Lachiesa is next to the ,,Santa Trinità " church in Locarno Monti. The restaurant has been renovated some years ago and has a beautiful view on the Maggiore Lake. Mediterranean dishes with some French and Asiatic details. Open days: from Tue
We live in these parts and have been wanting to try La Chiesa for some time now. This 14-point Gault-Millau restaurant is located in a beautifully restored church perched on the hillside overlooking Locarno. The Christmas menu included 4 courses (with amuse-bouche starter) - moist fish roulade with truffles, homemade al dente ravioli, juicy duck breast with a vegetable purée, and a nut roulade with homemade gelato to finish. Each dish was perfectly prepared, flavorful and pleasing to the eye. The wine list includes some interesting local choices, the service was friendly and attentive, the view spectacular. Worthy of its rating.

Well, we are just the luckiest. Easter Saturday night with no reservation anywhere, and turned away from 4-5 places before finding this gem. Fine food, great wines, excellent service! Every morsel was a delight for the senses, service was exceptional and the wines were delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the visit and would recommend it to anyone. Pricey, but worth every penny compared to the nearest competition.
