Supply is a small unincorporated community in Brunswick County, North Carolina, United States located around the intersection of US 17 (Ocean Highway) and NC 211 (Southport-Supply Road/Green Swamp Road). Its name is derived from the use of the Lockwoods Folly River as a trade route in the 18th and 19th centuries. Residents of the nearby beach communities of Holden Beach, Oak Island, Ocean Isle, Caswell Beach, and Sunset Beach often used to commute to Supply for goods and other materials. This practice is still common, but development in the town of Southport and in the Intracoastal Waterway commercial districts has made traveling to Supply unnecessary.

This was a really cool casual evening. Hot fresh food was served quickly (order at the counter), sit above the inlet waterway on a screened porch with a nice breeze, and watch the sunset. The crab cake could have been a little larger, but it was tasty. Good steamed shrimp, fries, grouper. An authentic local experience, and part of the fun is deciphering all of the custom license plates on the walls. This is an annual visit for us and we always look foward to it.

For and service are very good, but to me, I think they are pretty pricey. Menu includes pastas, pizzas and calzones.

I usually get the quiche with fresh fruit and a bran muffin. Very filling. New owner has kept old staff and everybody seems to get along well with each other. Good food and great atmosphere!

For ice cream in Holden Beach (or Brunswick County for that matter) go no further than Beaches N Cream. It's all homemade and Amanda, who runs the place, says she's got upwards of 90-odd recipes, including Cadbury Egg at Easter. You'll get the old stand-bys, chocolate, coffee, etc., but also Red Velvet Cake, Beach Sand and whatever other whim she might be in the mood to concoct. The menu changes daily so each visit is a surprise, and her ice cream is creamy beyond belief. Go. You'll like it.

Excellent summer desserts of flavorful Italian ice that are definitely a yep above snow cones. Most flavors very sweet (syrupy); small size plenty and around $3. Cute building with corn hole games and benches outside. Convenient to Holden Beach bridge and Pavilion. Pretty spot to enjoy at sunset--eat your slush near the Intercoastal Waterway. Could walk here for dessert after eating at Mermaid's Cafe.

Well I have been to this bakery in Shallotte twice now and I have to tell you I can't stop getting the same thing for my family for dessert. Their tre leche cake is delicious!!! Everyone loves it when I bring it home. I haven't tried anything else there. I do not know what the average prices are for cakes these days from a bakery because I rarely buy them, but their cakes are around $25.00 each. The tre leche cake is only around $8.00 including tax, that's another reason love it!

The Purple Onion Cafe opened on Main Street in Shallotte in 2004. Since then they have become a community favorite serving locals & visitors breakfast and lunch with a delicious menu of pastries, traditional breakfast items, burgers, sandwiches, soups, salads and desserts.
I live in the area and visit this restaurant often for breakfast and lunch. It is usually better than average quality of food. However the restaurant could use a good cleaning and some refreshing. I was recently disappointed to be served shredded iceberg lettuce on a Cesar salad. I was told they had recently changed the lettuce and given about $2 off my lunch without much concern about my dissatisfaction.

There are very few restaurants in Holden Beach, NC, and this one is really great. We wished we had known about it before our trip to the beach last week, and it would be really helpful for travelers to know about this place.
Before concluding our family gathering on the ocean at Holden Beach, NC, we all decided to have take-out pizza. Patronizes has been in business since the early 1900's in one location or another. Their current location in reasonably located near the beach. They are a nicely appointed establishment which caters to families and other visitors to this area of North Carolina. They offer everything Italian. Parking is tight.
