The Sudan or Sudan (/suːˈdæn, -ˈdɑːn/ ( listen); Arabic: السودان as-Sūdān) also known as North Sudan since South Sudan's independence and officially the Republic of the Sudan (Arabic: جمهورية السودان Jumhūriyyat as-Sūdān), is a country in Northern Africa. It is bordered by Egypt to the north, the Red Sea, Eritrea and Ethiopia to the east, South Sudan to the south, the Central African Republic to the southwest, Chad to the west and Libya to the northwest. It is the third largest country in Africa covering 1,886,068 square kilometres (728,215 sq mi). The White Nile flows through the country, emptying into Lake Nubia in the north, the largest manmade lake in the world. The River Nile divides the country into eastern and western halves. Before the Sudanese Civil War, South Sudan was part of Sudan, but it became independent in 2011.
Things to do in Sudan
Went here several times during the last two weeks, because it is one of the few places in town where they serve vegetables in sufficient quantities with some of their food.Today they let me wait for 1 hour and 30 minutes. People who placed an order half an hour later than me, got their food earlier because they started pressing the staff. Customers who waited patiently just ended up at the lower end of the line. Terrible practice: rewarding those who jump the queue. Skip this place especially when there are many orders (visible on the board next to the counter). They just do not have the capacity to serve food within a reasonable time limit if there are several (group) orders. Waiting in the noisy cantine-like food court is unpleasant.
So happy to have found this place. Finally rice or noodles with vegetables and lean meat if you want. A choice of different sauces. Reasonable prices and efficient service. A delight after having visited so many Burger eateries.
Lagenda is basic, no frills, but the food is OUTSTANDING! Service is decent. The menu is very extensive, and a bit confusing, but the waiters are pretty good at helping to find what you want. Portions are quite large also. The food is impeccable. Everything tastes wonderfully fresh and well-seasoned. Ask the wait staff for dishes particularly Malaysian, because many dishes seem just Chinese - albeit very good Chinese!

Restaurant is 20m behind Havana cafe Khartoum
The food at Overseas is great! The menu contains a mixture of Malaysian and Chinese cuisines. Huge selection. Wide variety of choices for vegetarians. Table service is a it lopsided as it appears that many of the waitresses don't speak English, but the food comes out quick. It's a basic spot as far as decor, so go for the food, not the ambiance!

As Khartoum's highest restaurant, the Rickshaw's commanding views complement its stunning innovative menu. From China to Japan, every dish on this culinary journey fuses the traditional with the innovative in a subtly lit, beautifully designed environment
Our meal here on our first night in Khartoum was indifferent and the service was not particularly friendly. We would only recommend this restaurant to travellers like ourselves who were too tired to go anywhere else after checking into the hotel.
