grilled meats, large menu, multilingual, on Drava River, large portions of excellent quality, very reasonable prices, friendly helpful service, Old Town center area
By the river Drava, few steps from Water tower, there is a cosy restaurant with great tasty Balcan food. Mekana rakija for beginning, then hot fresh lepinje to go well with cevapcici, vesalice, sudzukice and other meat specialities. Not cheap, but tasty.

Great location with parking in front of the restaurant and large terrace. The food is a typical Balkan barbecue with the possibility of delivery and a solid price.

We follow the remark of Ivo Andric, describing the restaurants on the Slovenian territory: >>The service in these small, cosy, home-like Slovenian restaurants is exceptional, often better and more caring than in big hotels in the cities. People do not onl
You really woulnd't expect such great food and service in a small village like this. it looks like a hidden my grandamother's cooking 3 Michelin stars place. Real homemade flavors, home atmosphere, great prices, friendly staff. Even coming late for lunch with a full restaurant they make you eat like gods and you can't eat it all. Rare example of traditional good cuisine. Must visit!

Our host in Veliko Trgovišće recommenced Graso. It’s a huge restaurant with large dining rooms, upstairs and downstairs as well as outside seating. There arealso some smaller eating areas on th3 first floor. The decor is lovely - lots of woodwork. The menu has a wide selection, including some vegetarian options. All the food was very tasty. The soups were especially good. The portions are very large, excellent for sharing. They do provide doggie bags. The service was friendly. Prices reasonable. The place was packed on both occasions that we ate there. A bonus for families is the play area immediately adjacent to the outside eating area.Would recommend and gladly return.

We had lunch with our 16 member travel group. “Beef” soup with homemade noodles looked more like chicken broth and had no visible meat and could have been hotter, but it was flavorful. Simple salad nicely dressed. Roast turkey came with homemade wide, flat pasta noodles were very tasty and not too fatty (much better than the same had in a recommended restaurant in Zagreb). Apple strudel for dessert was warm and slightly crisp. Some of the best we’ve had on the trip. As we were leaving, I saw a serving bowl of what looked like very tempting beef stew or meatballs. Location is interesting, up a steep hill/driveway which we walked since it could not accommodate a large bus, although probably private cars can manage. It was a bit chilly, but in warmer weather, it appears there is inviting seating outside. Worth consideration.

We stayed one night at Bascarsija. When I made the room reservation I was affraid of the noise because of the restaurant and the terrace. Fortunately we had the apartment on the oposite side of the terrace. It was a nice experience. The ethno decorations in the restaurant create the atmosphere of the authentic Bosnian village. The food is great, large servings and the staff was very friendly. "Sirnica" pastry rolls filled with cottage cheese were delicious. I recommend !
