Family owned and run providing fine dining Italian cuisine, casual lunches, coffee, take away and private functions
My husband took me out to this restaurant for my birthday. It well and truly supports all the positive reviews it has received thus far. Lovely atmosphere. The food was superb. We started with an antipasto tasting plate which was delicious - all parts of it, we both had fish of the day for mains, which was grilled snapper with small potatoes, beans and broccoli, but also ordered a salad to share. I always think fish is the acid test of a restaurant which Il Duca passed with flying colours. There is a nano second between cooked and tough - this was sublime. It flaked easily from the fork, the flavour not disguised by any sauces - but the fish was flavoursome and delicious. The salad likewise was delicious. We shared the gelato and sorbet - yum! The service was terrific. Water continually topped up, drinks appearing as ordered - every attention to our needs. No delays at all with our food appearing in rapid succession. Happy to recommend, and if we’re over this way again, we’ll be back!

Great little restaurant. Very friendly service and reasonable prices. Mexicana pizza was delicious, not that spicy, though. Gnocchi carbonara was beautifully cooked and not too oily. Fast service.

What a great little find. We visited here on our first night in Melbourne and absolutely loved the place! Gorgeous food, great atmosphere, good music and friendly staff. The Carbonara was the best I’ve ever tasted. We ate at the Banff on another 2 occasions on our short stay in Melbourne and each time it was equally as good.Great value for money too! Highly recommended

Via Fratelli - Established in 2011 is two Italian brothers life long dream of opening up a restaurant to bring homemade Italian food from Nonna's kitchen to the people of Malvern East and beyond. Michael & John have been in the hospitality industry for ov
It might look like your regular average pizza/pasta restaurant, but Via Fratelli is above that. The food is always really, really good and the service is pretty much always spot on. It's a very casual restaurant, and certainly not fine dining, but if you're wanting that good, comforting and homely meal, that's what you'll get here. While I usually have their gnocci (which is always soft and beautiful) and have tried a chicken pizza once (and thoroughly enjoyed it), the last time I went, I ordered their special which was a homemade roasted pumpkin, sage and ricotta ravioli, with a delicious sage butter and cream sauce. It was delectable and yum.The bottom line is that with everything they have on their menu and the great service and reasonable prices, if you're after a reliable good, casual Italian meal, then this is the place. Lot's of parking on the street and a lot of space inside for a meal for two or a big party of even up to 20 or so.

Dropped in on a rainy afternoon for lunch. This place serves the type of comfort food made for such occasions like lamb shanks and bangers & mash. Food was excellent, staff friendly and attentive and $5 pints to wash it down. Located at the end of Acland St where the trams stop, this place is worth a look.

The staff are friendly and helpful. The take out order is quick. Recommend The vegetarian, Hawaiian and Margarita. Also recommend the Tirmasu. Good size serving. Easy walking distance from the Alfred hospital. You can eat in or take away. You can also find the menu on line.
