Top Paddock

Just moved into a new office in the same precinct and were searching for a decent place nearby. Happen to come across Top Paddock. It was indeed a great choice. The ambiance, hospitality everything you ask was of top notch. The coffee (latte double shot) was one of the finest I have ever had in Melbourne. The breakfast dish eggs benedict was just awesome (Slow Cooked Pulled Beef Brisket) was cooked to perfection. Well since my new office in just 50 meters away, I am sure I will be visiting this awesome place many more times in near future.

Amaru Melbourne Restaurant

Reviewed By avecpleasure2015

Clinton McIver has delighted Melburnians for over two years now, with his innovative four and eight-course degustation menus served at his Armadale restaurant, Amaru. His flair for showcasing contemporary Australian cuisine has been rewarded with two hats by the Age Good Food Guide 2019. Last night was our third time dining at Amaru. It has definitely evolved each time we have visited and is an intimate venue for your next 'special celebration' moment. The service was excellent and the wine list impressive, albeit pricey. For those who choose the eight-course 'Sensory Menu', you will be neither disappointed nor leave hungry. The presentation of three completely different desserts is a definite high point for those who adore their desserts.

Squires Loft South Yarra

Squires Loft, The Steak Specialists, have proudly been serving steaks for over 20 years. The corner stone of our success is our proprietary sauces and baste, custom built grills allowing for a unique cooking process that creates an incredible taste profil

We arrived at Squires Loft at 9:10 pm, grateful that they close later than most restaurants in the area. We sat upstairs where the sound of conversations was very loud when tables are more than half occupied. Their warm sourdough bread with butter was delicious. We had a glass of D'arenberg Noble Wrinkle Riesling that was very sweet and reasonably priced. We shared an order of 2 racks of pork ribs and chips. The ribs were delicious and tender, and we recommend them. The price was on the high side of reasonable. Service was friendly and prompt. We feel Squires is a very good value.

We at the degustation menu with matching wines ... from start to finish we were underwhelmed by both the food and service. The whole place lacks atmosphere: soulless grey decor. The waiting staff were well-meaning but not up to the standard I expect from a restaurant of this standard. Of all the staff we saw, one was a native English speaker (and he didn’t serve us) the rest were heavily accented, which made it hard to discern what we were being fed. We repeatedly referred to the menu for hints. A couple of the waiting staff also seemed very inexperienced and couldn’t respond to relatively simple questions from us and other patrons. One Chinese couple, with excellent English, tried to make a request about the cheese course but eventually gave up trying to make themselves understood. One exception to this was the Italian (I think) sommelier who was articulate and well-informed (though I didn’t agree with some of the pairings!).The menu seemed oddly sparse in information. The main ingredient in the poached calamari, for example, was poached fennel. This was quite tasty, but also a complete surprise. Why not mention it?!The food itself was variable, to say the least. A couple of quite interesting tastes - the scallop was lovely, as was the wallaby, but much of it was bland and/or under-seasoned. Not worth the money by any measure.Having recently been to Attica, which has some similarities in terms of menu style, we had high hopes of another evening of delicious food and informative service. This delivered neither. Save your money and go somewhere else - or getting organised (and get saving) and go to Attica if you want food and service worth the price tag.

Richmond Oyster Bar

Reviewed By RossE865

We booked this restaurant for international guests and ourselves looking for seafood. Lived in Melb for decades and never heard of this place. Well we were really impressed. The staff, Mike from SA in particular, were excellent. They accommodated our special request to try a wide range of seafood. We ended up having 9 different selections including trout tartare, Tas and Sydney oysters, calamari, king prawns, lobster, snapper, salmon, whiting. We all shared it all. Sides we had excellent crunchy chips and baby potatoes in rosemary and garlic and a great pear and pinenut and rocket and lime salad. The wine list was also sensational and Mike was helpful with the selection of wine too. You can see my other many reviews and I have not spoken so highly of another restaurant. All they need to do is improve their music selection and a little work on lighting and ambience and decor and you have yourself 10/10. As it is I would give the food and service 10/10 and wine list 9/10 I would thoroughly recommend you give Richmond Oyster a try. Every single seafood dish was fresh and excellent.

An elegant restaurant with lovely starched white tablecloths. Very quiet even though it's on Toorak Road. A great menu with European, Asian and modern Australian dishes. They also have a set luncheon menu of two or three courses including a glass of wine. Amazing souffles, light as a feather. All beautifully presented and delicious. They also have private function rooms upstairs. Will definitely return.

It’s quite a simple dish, hard shell chicken tacos with some guacamole, chilli, etc. The difficult bit shouldn’t be the taco shell. Unfortunately tonight the kitchen at the Spready was so over-cooked they were BLACK. I bit it and the whole thing exploded! What a shame - the rest of it was delicious. Hi, thanks for taking the time to write. At the time of your visit we had just changed to using blue corn tortillas instead of the usual white and yellow corn, for our crispy shell tacos. They have a natural blue colour, which is more of a dark purple when fried to be crispy. We apologize for not informing you of this change at the time of your visit. Please let us know if there is ever an issue, as our knowledgeable team are happy help. Regards,Spread Eagle Management.
